Global-MMA Ranking Rules
*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.
*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.
*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.
*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.
*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.
*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.
* A fighter can move up a maximum of three spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title or a tournament championship with the victory.
* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.
*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.
*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.
*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.
*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.
*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.
*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion last fought in.
*Rankings will be updated every month.

Yeah, Fedor was a tough call. He was number 1 before retiring and then was out of the sport for 3 1/2 years and took a tune up fight as a first fight back. He is MMA GOAT though. This was a pretty unique situation so we did a vote on this site and most agreed he should still be number 1. He should take on the top competition now that he had the tune-up fight.

Liam McGeary (Bellator)
2.Phil Davis (Bellator)
3.King Mo (Bellator)
4.David Branch(WSOF)
5. Emmanuel Newton (Bellator)
6.Viktor Nemkov (M-1 Global)
7.Tomasz Narkun (KSW)
8.Stephan Puetz(M-1 Global)
9.Jiri Prochazka(Rizin)
10.Quinton Jackson (Bellator)
Heres my reasoning.....
Davis is likely the next title challenger for bellator title, also he won the one night tourney which is a nice feather in his cap.
King Mo just won the Rizin Tourney and is close to title shot but one step behind davis imo.
Branch is #4 because while being champ and winning a tournament it was in a lesser promotion.
Quintin is 10 cuz he isnt active much and everybody else has been.

Some good reasoning. I could see King Mo being higher with the RIZIN wins but I left him behind Newton and Rampage since his losses to them were fairly recent. I also have Rampage up there above Mo due to his win over him.
Branch did win the tournament at 205 and is doing great at 185. He could move up quick at both 185 and 205 with his next fights, especially at 185 where he has some big wins. He is new at 205 with the tournament but could move up quickly there as well.

There were a lot of disagreements with the Fedor ranking at Sherdog last month as well. Some felt the number 1 was justified and others usually thought 2 would be good. The poll on here had number 1 with the most votes and number 2 with the second most if I remember right. I voted 1 since he was number 1 three years ago and is MMA GOAT and I can understand 1 tune up fight. If he doesn't fight better competition though, he could drop down the rankings in the future. I hope his next fight is a big one which could determine this. It is a pretty unique circumstance.
The other main comment I get is that Branch should be higher at MW. If Branch wins his fight coming up at 185 he could move to top 3 or so at MW.

I think mo should be above rampage and newton.....
Rampage went back to zuffa which in my eyes blanks his slate since being back out of zuffa he hasnt fought....to me activity outweighs past wins especially since mo has been in 2 tourneys and has been on a tear.
Very rarely would i rank a guy abive the guy he lost to twice but again in mma its a "what have you done fir ne recently attitude ",and recently newton has been getting finished while mo literally won a tourney with the top guys from around the world.

Also in mens straw weight division
The only fighter I would add here is Jarred Brooks (8-0). He recently finished #7 Ito very recently at WSOF Global. That's probably why he's not on the list. Also that last fight was his debut at 115lbs.

Some good points fka. In April it will be one year since Page last fought. So next month it will be 11 months of inactivity so I will drop Page two spots next month (he will be behind Mo and Branch). May drop him more in future months if he does not fight and if he does not fight for two years total, he will be removed entirely which would be April next year.

Sounds good. It is always good to get the feedback. I make a lot of adjustments based on the comments, usually as fights occur. Many times the updates are not made immediately, but often, over time they are implemented.
The fighter recommendation type comments are always good as well. I keep a list on my PC to track the recommended fighters to bring into the rankings after they win their next fight or bring them in if other fighters are dropped. I like these type comments so I can keep a ready list of who is next in line which is helpful since the rankings are changing all the time.
