December 10th, Tokyo. RIZIN made an announcement to hold an additional event on December 31st. The event is titled “Cygames presents Heisei’s last YARENNNOKA!” and is scheduled to take place the morning of the already scheduled RIZIN.14 event.
The two, iconic figures of Japanese MMA who have fought their way through the Heisei era, will be fighting one another on the last NYE of the era. Tatsuya Kawajiri and Satoru Kitaoka both appeared at the press conference.
Tatsuya Kawajiri (36-12-2) “If a Japanese fighter were to be asked ‘Yarennnoka’, every single one would respond ‘Off course’. It has been 20 years since I have started fighting and this upcoming NYE will be the last one for the Heisei era. Back when I started, the world of combat sports was rotating around the Japanese Fight scene. Much has happened throughout the years to me, and to the industry, but I do pride myself in constantly fighting on the front lines of all the rapid changes to the sport. Kitaoka also has fought through the history of this sport and continued to put himself on the front lines of this sport, and I do feel that he is an opponent who is special, who share the same experience and who I respect. An opponent who I refuse to lose to and an opponent who I must crush. I am sure there will be the best version on Kitaoka waiting for me on NYE, so I plan to meet him with the best Kawajiri.”
Satoru Kitaoka (41-18-9) “I do believe that I have a pretty smart mouth for a fighter. But given my current situation, I believe I am not entitled to make any comments or demands. However, if I am asked ‘Yarennnoka’ I will answer ‘Of course I will’.”
Also announced was an unexpected banger at 61kg as Jae Hoon Moon (11-11) takes on Kai Asakura (11-1) in what should be an incredible striking showcase. Kana Watanabe (4-0) will rematch Shizuka Sugiyama (16-5), and Yuta Uchida faces Takuma Konishi in a kickboxing contest. The event is scheduled to have 6-7 fights and will conclude by 12 pm.

Hope there will be a way to see this. I wonder if the production will be tuned down for this part of the show.
