*Top level fighters that leave the UFC or Strikeforce may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC or Strikeforce will be removed from the rankings.

*Fighters that are signed to non-exclusive contracts with Strikeforce, who fight for other MMA promotions (excluding the UFC), may be included in the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division.

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent after a victory or a loss against a ranked fighter.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of two spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked under them; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion
last fought in.

*Rankings will be updated every month.

Thanks Willie.

Yeah, if Guram loses this fight he will drop to the contenders list.

Hopefully Rumble is on the next WSOF card or fights oversees soon so we can give him a bump up with a win. Also, if someone directly above him loses soon they will drop below him.

GLOBAL-MMA Rankings (Outside Zuffa) - December 2012 Empty Re: GLOBAL-MMA Rankings (Outside Zuffa) - December 2012

New M-1 Champs:
- Ramazan Emeev entered the rankings winning the middleweight title over Miranda.

- Marat Gafurov entered the top ten by winning the first ever M-1 featherweight title.

New KSW Champs:
- New KSW welterweight champ, Aslambek Saidov returned to the contenders list after winning the first ever KSW welterweight belt yesterday.

- Maciej Jewtuszko won the inaugural KSW lightweight title yesterday but did not make the contenders list due to the level of competitors included in this division. Kikuno would have been bumped out if Jewtuszko entered the rankings which would not be justified. Jewtuszko sits right on top of the watch list as a potential future addition to the rankings.

New BAMMA Champs:
- BAMMA crowned their first welterweight champion Tom Breese yesterday. Breese finished the fight and looked impressive. Breese sits atop the watch list but the title win was not enough to bump Lyman Good out of the rankings.

- BAMMA crowned their first lightweight champion as well yesterday as Steven Ray took the title. The title win wasn't enough to remove Kikuno out of the rankings.

- BAMMA also showcased a very impressive light heavyweight fighter to watch out for in Max Nunes who looked really good in his fight. Xavier Foupa-Pokam also looked solid surviving an early first round armbar which seriously hyper-extended his arm. Professor X showed a lot of heart to not tap out and take a clear decision win.

It was a pleasure, glad to add some productivity.

From the sounds of it, we might be losing one of our ranked flyweights after this month, since it seems whomever wins between Yamaguchi and Montague will be headed towards the UFC.

For sure, he is right up there. He should be fighting for the ONE FC title at their next event coming up so I think he will be ranked or in contenders soon.

If Yamaguchi were to win, I would probably guarantee that. Maybe a match against Gaudinot or Uyenoyama.

If it were Montague, they might hold off on debuting him unless they're desperate for filling out the Japan card.

I'm also really hoping that DREAM will finally establish a Flyweight GP next year. Got some killer names to build around.

A DREAM flyweight division would be cool. If they only have 5 events next year they will have to be real selective on the weight classes they choose though. They do have the ONE FC Network to keep their fighters busy though so they could have a flyweight division.

They need HW, MW, and LW and below. Anything they could possibly build a good roster around. There are always HW's available, as with MW's worldwide. You could honestly trade off between MW or WW, depending on their plans, and just have superfights in the rest of the division.

The lower weight classes are ripe with talent and are begging for a grand prix. Flyweight still doesn't have a Zuffa stranglehold on it yet, so they could easily field a tournament.

Urushitani (after his imminent release), Yamagami, Shimizu, Sunabe, Kojima,Ochi, Ito, Shojo, Docyogen, Karayev, Runez, Inoue, Somdet, Matsunaga, Watanabe, Tome, Pantoja, Motoya, Vila, Cejudo...

That is a good point. There are a lot of top notch flyweights available, especially over in Japan. They could kick off a great GP.

Is anyone announced yet for the ONE FC flyweight tournament?

Pretty pivotal 125 match coming up on Dec. 9th, as watchlister Junya Kodo goes up against perennial contender Masaaki Sugawara, who is just outside of the list. A win could boast both guys up my ranking, as Sugawara would finally have another recent and solid win to warrant a spot on the watch list or Kodo could steadily find his way on the contender's list.

Also, fellow watchlister and DEEP Flyweight Champ, Yuki Motoya defends his title against hot prospect Yuya Shibata. A win for Motoya would do wonders for his standing, as he hasn't quite built a resume to move beyond the bottom of the watchlist so far. Shibata is 9-1, with his sole loss coming against #8 ranked Ryuichi Miki. If he were to win, he'd definitely be on the verge of contention, depending on how the rest of the ladder ahead of him works itself out the next few months.

Docyogen would be solid.

I have to become more familiar with these Shooto flyweights. There's just usually no where to watch. I catch the DEEP events whenever they are available, but lately this year, it takes months to find a vid.

Not in top 10 yet but he moved from the bottom of the contenders list to the top last month with the tournament and title win. Basically from number 15 to number 11. The contenders list here is not like the alphabetical order like Sherdog uses, it is basically a top 15. After he defends his title, he will get the bump into the top 10.

ZST and RINGS should join the ONE FC network so we can see Kotani against guys like Aoki, Boku, McKee, Zoro, Kume, Ole, lil Enomoto, Folayang, Kitaoka, Kikuno, Isao, Oishi,... (considering they are constantly pulling in DEEP and Pancrase fighters as well). Could make some great fights.
