Ishii Hype!
Wed Dec 28, 2011 1:14 pm
Let's give him some hype.
The expose on Ishii by the Russian channel that will carry the NYE fight:
After winning the Gold medal in Beijing, Ishii said that he has accomplished all that he set out to do in judo. He changed his focus with the goal to be a champion in MMA, specifically the UFC. He even moved to the States to pursue this goal.
Ishii is training at a small gym in Southern California with the likes of Mark Munoz and where Alistair Overeem and Wanderlei Silva also do their training (Reign). Right now he is only one of many, but the fight with Fedor can elevate this fighter. Under the coaching of Ed Buckley, the Japanese fighter is training striking first and foremost.
Ishii says, "My plan is to be active and aggressive. being defensive minded is not gonna work. Of course, I would need to take Fedor to the ground and then I will show what I can do."
"I have watched Fedor's fight with Jeff Monson several times. Fedor has good lowkicks. I will try to be careful."
---------------
Ishii looks in pretty good shape and they said he has progressed a lot. He is still very young and has years of combat experience at the highest level. He may not be a walk through for Fedor. It would've been interesting to see him at 205 in pre-Zuffa Strikeforce, like they planned. Does Ishii get unnecessary hate?

Crow Foot admires the warrior spirit of Ishii, and feels he has a very good chance of beating the mighty Fedor.

Honestly, I don't think he has a chance really in this fight. Just my opinion though.

The leg kick technique is not too bad, but head movement looks a bit stiff. Or maybe it's just Muay Thai..

Ishii is really looking good now. Much better shape than last time.
I don't dislike the guy but...i'll never stop supporting the emperor.

Will Fedor go all Pedro Rizzo on Ishii with leg kicks ? Will he become the new leg kick champion ? we shall soon see...

Ishii must be a follower of Dana white, he has bought into the hype about Fedor only fighting cans. Hence why his taking this fight, he thinks he can win.
But Ishii's game plan here is simple, take down, lay on FEDOR, win decision

yea well thank god this wont be under unified rules now huh ? where something like King Mo vs. Moussasi can happen. Brings the sport back to Randleman vs. Bas Rutten times.

I don't think Ishii will have an easy time taking Fedor down, it is possible he could get it there, but I don't think he will.

Haha... I said the exact same thing watching the Monson fight with dismay. WTF? Fedor has turned into Pedro Rizzo.

Black House Ishii promo. Trainer says Ishii has surprises. I'm thinking Ishii is gonna whip it out and rub his balls on Fedor. Suprise bitch!!

I'd luv to see some good Judo throws in this match. Be cool to see how Fedor can do from the clinch with Ishi and whether he would be successful with some throws.

I don't know if Ishii would even be able to close distance with Fedor, but some judo would be fun to see. I think last time Fedor used any judo was in Matt Lindland fight, a fighter's lifetime ago..
