I know guys have used this and used that, so many other things… I don’t know if any of it really helps, in martial arts anyway. One punch, one kick to the head, the liver, can end the fight. And secondly its a death, its a death for the body. For a few years of glory you are going to die at the age of 40, 45? Or your liver turns to cancer and you search for a new liver? I don’t know. I think its too dangerous. And for MMA I think you can prepare with everything natural, all natural substances. Nutrition, BCAA, protein shakes and glutamine. Four things I use. Every sportsman in every sports is taking this, or should. Plus vitamin B-complex, vitamin C, lots of fruit, lots of rest. I never liked all that other stuff, its dangerous to play with. As far as I am concerned, its too dangerous … But, its not my concern, whoever wants to take anything can take anything – one punch or kick can solve the problem. It’s dangerous, its not healthy, you can be caught, you can be suspended and you can be shamed. It is disgrace for your whole career to be caught with things you shouldn’t take. But most important thing, it is too dangerous. Thanks but no thanks.

I love this man.

Cool. Mirko was from a time when men had testicles. Nowadays everyone's so feminized they need TRT.

I could buy some guys legitimately needing it, like fighters who have been fighting and cutting weight for their entire lives, which stops the natural production of testosterone.

but guys like Duffee and Marquardt? They're just blatantly juicing.

TRT wouldn't save him from getting KTFO anyway.

Seems like Endocrinologists & the International Olympic Committee, and I, don't agree with you about a well-muscled athlete legitimately having a medical need for Testosterone (steroid) Replacement Therapy. You can't maintain big muscles when you have chronically low testosterone. Those two thing are diametrically opposed to each other (see the Japanese musicians musicians that IQ listens to).

Guys like Rampage, Couture, Duffee, Hendo, Sonnen, et al are cheating. Plain and simple. Their testosterone levels are low because of past steroid abuse. Athletes also get seriously jacked up on testosterone to build sized and strength and then stop abruptly a certain amount of time before competition. This allows them to have normal levels when they know they are going to be tested and thus avoiding detection. Random 'real' testing with "legitimate" testing protocols deter athletes from cheating like that these things.

The whole TRT exemption subject in MMA is a fucking joke!

The IOC has given 2 freakin' TRT exemptions during the modern era of their drug testing. 2 out of thousands and thousands of athletes and one guy had lost his nuts in an accident. The UFC however, has gotten 4,5,6+ times that many exemptions for its 250 fighters from the Nevada-California State Athletic Commissions. They are even promoting TRT to it's fighters. Interestingly enough Lorenzo Fertitta is formerly the president of the NSAC.

This is all really a joke. Check out my earlier post with an interview from the IOC's Dr. Don Catlin on the TRT exemption subject.

What a joke and Zuffa doctors are telling injured fighters to go to non-specialists who will right them prescriptions for the steroid testosterone... If this was MLB, congress would revoke their antitrust exemption and shut baseball down til this shit was purged with Bud Selig fired and team owners fined heavily.

After testing 10's of thousands of Olympic athletes over a number decades, the IOC has only given 2 exemptions for the therapeutic use of the steroid testosterone. The UFC has 250 fighters and many times that have been given TRT exemptions. Ha.

Naturally occurring abnormally-low testosterone levels in athletes is extremely rare as the UFC Olympic committee's Dr. Catlin says below. It is not rare however in athletes that have abused steroids. This atrophies your testicles and can cause permanent damage to your bodies ability to produce its own testosterone. Low testosterone is in fact pervasive in people who use steroids for bodybuilding and athletics.

You can't have a big muscular frame and be super strong when you have low testosterone. When you have low testosterone your muscles shrink and your strength decreases. When a steroid abuser quits using, their decreased testicle function gives them low testosterone. Just ask any retired WWE wrestler, Randy, Mark Coleman, Hendo, Wandy, Chael, Rampage, and on and on...

Zuffa is knowingly condoning and even promoting the use of performance enhancing drugs. Now that's making MMA a legitimate sport!

If you want to give Dr. Don Catlin a laugh, ask him what he thinks of the use of therapeutic-use exemptions (TUEs) for testosterone in the sport of mixed martial arts. Ask the 73-year-old anti-doping pioneer and International Olympic Committee member if he thinks there’s ever a situation where pro fighters -- even those in their 40s -- should be given permission to use testosterone, and then sit back and listen to his low chuckling response.

"That’s a joke," Catlin laughed. "Forget it. It’s a joke."

Catlin should know. The founder of the UCLA Olympic Analytical Lab, Catlin is responsible for developing such ground-breaking anti-doping innovations as the carbon isotope ratio test, which has been used to catch Olympic medalists using testosterone or a precursor. He also identified and developed a test for "The Clear" -- the designer steroid at the center of the BALCO investigation in 2003.

In addition to that expertise, Catlin also sits on the medical commission for the IOC that’s responsible for reviewing TUE applications from Olympic athletes, so he knows exactly what the process should look like when it’s being overseen by trained professionals -- which isn’t what’s happening right now in MMA, he said.

"What we do in the IOC, is we have specialists all over the world who all they do for us is conduct examinations for athletes who claim to be low on testosterone," said Catlin. "The levels of testosterone in men vary all over the place. Unless this particular person we send them to, and the people they send the data to for examination say so, we don’t give them [a therapeutic use exemption]. I think in all the years I’ve done it, we’ve given two (trt exemptions). One was a kid who didn’t have any testicles because he had a terrible accident ten years ago or something. It just doesn’t happen."
