Bellator's first transmission in Brazil gets 2,89 million views
Mon Mar 26, 2012 4:45 pm
That's it. Bellator signed a deal with Esporte Interativo, and in their first event they managed to get 2,89 MILLION views. Because of the success even the big news papers had it on the sports sections.
Now let's see how much M-1, It's Showtime, BAMMA and the old events of Cage Rage get.

Dana claimed 60 million people were watching.
The truth is in both events it got 14 points, and in TUF, 12. I don't know how this points work but all i know is that's the real ratings.

Yeah, There's only 39 million houses with TV in Brazil, and from my research i've seen that each point is 60.000 people watching at the time, so ufc got 12 and 14 points, not even close of 60 million.
what makes this post even more beautiful, Wolfman, is that you're actually from Brazil

I think each % point = 60000 in the Sao Paolo area, not the whole of Brazil if I recall correctly.
There is always confusing with ratings. It was the same with Fedor vs Monson. I think the ratings published were for Moscow and people did their own calculations from there.

This link might explain it better as far as UFC 134 goes.

edit - even that guy has made a mistake somewhere haha. He says 1 point = 58 houses in Sao Paolo! I guess he missed a k or something.

It was 58 until last year, now its 60. 60 thousand of course, like i said.
He said there 58 thousand, and that it got 13 points. the first UFC rio was on RedeTV it got 13 points like they said there, the UFC on Fox 1 was in Globo got 14, and TUF 12.

Yep, but not for the whole of brazil, just the Sao Paolo area I think. So how you average it out nationally after that. Then they count 3.3 avg people per household. So you can see why the numbers can add up and vary quite wildly depending how people work out the estimates.
Let's put it this way. 14 points = less than 1 million for the whole of Brazil has to be wrong. Especially if Rede broke it's ratings record with 13 points
They say the avg daily ratings for Rede are normally 1.5. So if you take 1 point as 60k for the whole of Brazil it would mean Rede's avg daily viewership is 90k. You see how this can't be right, yeah?

Rede TV is not a big channel. Globo is, still they broadcast the show very late. Their biggest tv shows get 50 points. Which is about 3 to 4 million people.
I think you are way off with that. You are trying to say the most watched TV shows in Brazil peak at 3-4m and that's a 50 point rating, really!? In a country with 192m people?
Even globo themselves say Cain vs JDS did 22m viewers - http://globoesporte.globo.com/platb/primeiramao/2011/11/17/os-numeros-do-ufc/ (note they say this was a 20 point rating)

Like i said theres 39 million TVs on Brazil. The numbers are very strange too. Guess we'll never really know how many people watched, but the estimates say they didn't get 6 million. That's all we got.
Calculating with 20 points the estimates go to 1.2 million. Well, guess we'll never know for sure. Globo is not to be trusted, like any other channel around, and so far there's no clear independent source to get this kind of info.
So 20 points = 22m according to Globo, yeah? So let's just agree that it's 14 points instead.
Why does 14 points = less than 1 million if 20 points = 22m? How does that work?
I've no doubt the figures are always best estimates. But there is no way 14 points = less than one million people nationally, never in a million years.
Anyway, I'm done here. Film time!

Well. According to IBOPE which is the company that makes the estimates and points. That are the estimates.
The number of people with Cable tv here is 12 million. The numbers are really low with some things. It's like you said with the Fedor vs Monson thing. It gets confusing and it never has an definitive answer or even a clear one. You see, Dana claims 60 million, Globo 22. Whatever the answer might be. Bellator in their first event starting with almost 3 million is a good thing.
Guess the truth will never really be known. Because of this i decided to delete my comments with the estimate ratings. Don't want to spread wrong info here. Good film to you.
