Bellator 149 Averaged 2 Million Viewers, Peaked at 2.5M Empty Bellator 149 Averaged 2 Million Viewers, Peaked at 2.5M

Mon Feb 22, 2016 8:17 pm
Bellator MMA pulled in record ratings with last Friday’s Bellator 149.

Spike TV, which broadcast the Feb. 19 event from Toyota Center in Houston, announced on Monday that the three-hour fight card averaged 2 million viewers, making it the most watched show in Bellator history.

According to Spike, ratings for the show peaked at 2.5 million viewers during the heavyweight co-main event between former street fighters Kimbo Slice and Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris. The popular Slice has been a ratings boon for the organization, having helped set its previous ratings record with 1.6 million viewers for his Bellator 138 bout against Ken Shamrock in June 2015.

The evening’s main event between Shamrock and fellow MMA pioneer Royce Gracie dropped off slightly from its lead-in, drawing 2.4 million viewers.

Bellator 149 was Friday’s top-ranked telecast in MMA’s coveted Men 18-34 demographic, Spike said.

The zombies were bashing this card hardcore. Even "journalists" were as well. Well the numbers are in and they are fantastic.

The zombies have already started coming up with ways to bash it and play it off. No matter what anything or anyone non-zuffa does, they will always find a false narrative to try and make it look bad. The really are cult members who do not care about logic, facts or reality. But as we have seen, they don't matter. All of their false narratives didn't stop Bellator from doing great numbers and setting record highs. Coker knows what he is doing.

Seriously though jeezus those numbers crush the previous record of like 1.6 million......

Entire card AVERAGED 2 million viewers that means the legit fights and talent got major eyeballs on them which is great.

Kimbo fight peaked at 2.5,ken fight did 2.4 million.

This is why Bellator does these fights. They're not spectacular but they draw. Of course the shills in the media are trashing it because they know it was highly successful. When's the last time they went at the UFC for a circus or freakshow type fight?

That's it, never. If the ufc turned around and did the exact same show with the exact same fighters they wouldn't bash the ufc for it. There wouldn't be articles from multiple websites saying how no one will ever watch the ufc again. It's BS. In fact, when there is a crappy ufc show on tv, the shills always say "Why are you complaining about FREE fights?!"

These are great numbers! Kimbo is a huge draw. Kimbo vs. Royce should be made next.

Hell, Kevin Iole wrote an article once about how we should be grateful for these watered down shows.

Look enough is enough, the show was entertaining, bottom line is scott coker is in the entertainment business, so is dana white, it might be a sport but they are in the entertainment business. its all about ratings, I see cokers vision and its good, he wants huge stars even if they are not in there prime/ or freak shows as people call them to attract viewers, that way people will tune in to see its new stars on the bottom of the card, it works and it will work, that is what vince mcmahon, eric bischoff, don king, bob arum, oscar dela hoya have been doing and it works. fuck the haters, if you dont like it dont watch it,

people are saying that coker instead of progressing mma took it back 20 years, bs, look dana white and the ferrtitas, have killed mma, its overstaturated, too much mma cause of the ufc, they have overstatuarted the biz,

ill say this if ufc did these "freak shows" it would be ok, all these media outlets that are on dana's nuts would defend it, but coker does it and all this negativity, nothing but a bunch of haters, sick of it

Hell yeah. The UFC has done countless freakshow stuff. They brought James Toney in for a $55 PPV, they centered an Ultimate Fighter season around Kimbo Slice, and signed 37 year old CM Punk despite him having no MMA experience and who's body is too beat up to do MMA. I like Punk but at least Kimbo and Dada actually got in the cage and fought.
