List of the greatest What ifs in MMA Empty List of the greatest What ifs in MMA

Pretty simple guys .....just name a person you thought would have been great if they had done MMA.

And let's try and be creative guys

I'll start......everyones limit is 5 guys or girls ok and a reason as to why you think they could have been great.

1)Mike Tyson

the meer mention of his name envokes images of brutal savagery,of viscious knockouts,of wicked speed mixed with ungodly power.

Watch Mike warming up and sparring while under the tutelage of cus demato his speed was scary.Iron mike would have been a hw world beater and if he got any sort of wrestling game he woulda been impossible to take down with his short stocky frame.

2)Andre The Giant
Probably the biggest legend of early pro wrestling both figuratively and literally.

The guys hands could palm most peoples heads like a basketball.....At 7'2 and 500lbs this massive monster of a man would have been a PRIDE staple and spmething to behold in an MMA fight.

3)Karl Gotch

Probly inadvertently the founder of shootboxing karl gotch taught Antonio Inoki and other early Japanese pro wrestlers his style of submission based wrestling which was eventually used as the base of shoot wrestling evolving to shootboxing. The german suplex is named after karl who himself was a gifted suplex innovator. With his grappling prowess he'd be a legend in MMA for sure.

4)Volk Han
Technically he did compete in MMA but it was all in the RINGS org which rulesets didn't allow for ground strikes to the head and had a bunch of wierd rules depending on what strikes you wanted to use and certain submissions were illegal.

I would have loved for him to have fought in PRIDE with pretty much everything legal. This big HW sambo grappling master would a ragdolled quite a few guys and submitted anyone he chose to.He even jad pretty good standup, but if he had been around in a different promotion i think he'd be a legend and hall of famer.

5)Jean Claude Van Damme

Second degree black belt in Shotokan Karate but also well trained in Muay Thai and Tae Kwan Do .Very successful kickboxing career known for flashy but effective techniques, very fast and powerful kicks with under rated boxing.JCVD is an action star and likely woulda looked like one knocking people out in MMA.

OK thats my 5 lets keep it going.

The second Ultimate Ultimate.

As it is the tournament had Tank, Ken Shamrock, Don Frye.

It's one of the better SEG UFC events.

The show was set to have a few names that would have made it amazing.

Vitor Belfort. There were rumors of him being on the show, but they pushed off his ufc debut until the next show, ufc 12.

Mark 'The Hammer' Coleman. Well it was supposed to be a tourney of champions and top contenders. Coleman had just won ufc 10. He was pulled from the show a couple weeks out when he got sick.

Igor Vovchanchyn. He was set to be on the show. About a week out from the show it was announced he was pulled from the show because he had visa issues.

No doubt Karelin. I always felt he would destroy the HW division in his prime.

I've always wondered about a real martial arts legend, who knew what he was doing: how he would do in MMA. Someone like Masutasu Oyama.
The guy could split rocks with his hand and feet, wrestled bulls and chopped off their horns, killed a guy with a single punch and then decided to go train in the mountains and invent his new style of karate. He also invented the 100-man kumite: sparring a hundred guys in a row.

For another change of pace: Jeeja Yanin. 4th Dan in Taekwondo. She learned Muay Thai for the movies. The girl has a boatload of strength and power. She can do planches, scorpion handstands and other advanced moves. In her first movie, Chocolate, you can see her jump and kick three, four separate people before landing. You need alot of power to launch yourself and get that kind of hang time.
For her, newest movies she is studying MMA now (I believe she is in Never Back Down 3).

[Wanted to make this post more interesting with videos and images of the two, but: Chinese internet. Half the internet is blocked. Note to politicians: Never vote for a law or bill with the word "internet" in it.]

Tyson use to get paid to make appearances. I don't think he was actually serious about fighting. That was after he had stopped fighting (Williams and McBride forced him into retirement really) and he was broke, supporting a heavy coke habit, and without anything to do. He got a place set up in California and did appearances for K-1, WWE, etc. for a while. He talks about it in his autobiography.
