DEEP announce middleweight bout between Yoshiyuki Nakanishi and Ken Hasegawa in the upcoming Differ Ariake show on August 27th.
Nakanishi, actually, still is the DEEP light-heavyweight champion, but just lost his DEEP middleweight belt to Young “Roy” Choi in October of last year.
Hasegawa is a former DEEP champion as well.
He was the Mega-ton (openweight) champion but relinquished the belt in 2014 after defeating PRIDE / UFC veteran Kazuhiro Nakamura. Then, Hasegawa signed with Titan FC and defeated Matt Thompson at the light-heavyweight, followed by another win over PRIDE veteran Ryuta Sakurai at 185 lbs.

Very good main event. Winner of that fight is arguably the top Japanese MW.

I think I saw on his Facebook page that Nakanishi won. If so, great win that he desperately needed.
With how Kawaguchi, Razmadze, and Hasegawa have been doing as of late, I'm beginning to think the Megaton belt is cursed.

I don't know where Nakanishi goes from here. Really not a whole lot to choose from in DEEP's Middleweight division. Maybe make a run in Road FC.
Hasegawa's DEEP future is a little murky for the same reasons but I think we'll see him again in RIZIN, possibly against Kato.

Road FC makes sense for Nakanishi.
I'd love to see Hasegawa in RIZIN against Kato. That is a good fight to make.
