Tenshin beat him down. He even landed a soccer kick in there.

I will add these as well my opinion
1 this was the event of the year
2 rizin is growing in popularity
3 fuck ufc fans I know I know it just irks me when you read uh lesser competition as if they don't work as hard. Funny you ask them how are ufc fighters better its always along the lines of they're in the ufc.
4 the whole evolution thing yes mma in 2017/18 is different to mma in 97/98 I laugh at the it has evolved the martial arts. Cross training that's was being done for years and even before mma or nhb was even thought of. Numerous martial arts Master of the 19th 20th century trained in other styles. Weight cutting again was being done before mma existed trash talking the same. What is the evolved part? Break it all down all of it was being done in one form or another.

I don't know if it is true I heard the next rizin event will be in May? I hope not I mean 4 months of waiting personally I like the event to begin in April, February would be even better. As for the next gp
I say a light weight welterweight tournament should be next with say a straw weight bantam weight for women. Hopefully in the next two years they put on more events and start crowning champions.

Yeah, they said the next event will be May 6th. Then I think they said a summer event, two fall events, and two NYE events. That would be 6 events on the year. The only one I'm not sure about is the summer event but I am pretty sure the other ones are correct. So between 5 and 6 events in 2018.
Since they held open weight and bantamweight GPs, I am hoping they go with a 185 lbs tournament next.

That was a great event.
The emerging Japanese stars are huge for the growth of MMA in Japan.
It's like a new generation of Japanese fighters.
Great matchmaking, and all the rest of it.
When Tenshin won the tournament, the translation was a little incomplete, but he said something about wanting to fight in a world tournament. I didn't catch exactly what he meant, whether he was calling for such a tournament with Rizin, or if there is a K-1 tournament, or something like that potentially.

Regarding the traditional MMA stuff, I saw 2 submissions in this event that I'd never seen in MMA, one the choke by Otsuka, and the other was how Shinju Nozawa-Auclair finished the armbar. I've seen armbars practiced from different positions, but I haven't seen one successfully finished like that.
It's more like traditional martial arts continues to bleed into MMA, not that MMA-style fighting is entirely new.
The Japanese use to stage fights to the death, for example. The earliest written records of jujutsu (the Japanese spelling of the word) include accounts of such fights.
I also read a story about a young samurai, for whom an older samurai organized a fight to the death, by telling a servant that he had to fight, or he would just kill him. Afterwards, the older samurai told the younger one that the purpose was to show him how ferociously a guy could fight even though he had no training if he knew it was fight or die.

Agreed, it was a great event. I like the stars they are building as well.
World tournament would be cool for Tenshin would be cool. I'd like to see him fight in MMA next to build his experience there as well. I hope he stays real active in both MMA and kickboxing.

Yeah, that was a slick arm bar.
Crazy story about the fight or die.

Now I saw on his Wikipedia page that horuguchi is the bantam weight champion now whether it is true or not I don't know.
One guy I think rizin should sign is maskatsu ueda since he is one of two to beat kyoji hell mighty mouse would be a great addition to them as well I know the odds are low you never know plus dj a huge pride fc fan.
