Onetime UFC title challenger Ali Bagautinov (17-6) returns to action on September 23 when he faces brazilian Denis Araujo (14-1).

The two meet in the main event of Battle of the Volga 6, which takes place at MTL Arena in Samara, Russia.

Bagautinov is currently sits at No. 4 in the latest Global-MMA flyweight rankings. “Puncher” fought seven times under the UFC banner, including a failed bid for the flyweight title but was released from the promotion following a November 2016 loss to Kyoji Horiguchi. Bagautinov stumbled in his first post-octagon outing, suffering a knockout loss to Tyson Nam but has since bounced back with 3 wins over Pedro Nobre, Danny Martinez and Andy Young.

Denis Araujo is a talented prospect from Brazil, who suffered only one defeat in his career and now he has to pass the test in a fight with the best Russian lightweight champion Ali Bagautinov. His last fight was a war against Bruno Menezes for the vacant Jungle Fight belt.
