Who is the guy?

He looks like a middleweight, or 178 pounder tops.

He looked to be working JDS over a little, in spite of a size discrepancy.

The boxer was better but JDS did pretty good. He drops his hands too low and I think he will pay for this.

I think that against an amateur Olympian his size, JDS would be unable to compete from the looks of things. Remember, the Nog brothers trained with the Cuban national team, one of the best amateur squads in the world bar none (only ones that come close are probably the Ukrainians and the Russians). Little Nog meddled at the Pan Am games at super HW and won the South American games. So seeing JDS get outworked by an amateur boxer much smaller than him isn't impressive to me.

A real boxer's head movement made him wiff on most all of his punches. He couldn't find the guy the vast majority of the time. Go back and watch how many time JDS gets nothing but air or a very slight graze with his punches. He no land bery many solid shots meu amigo!

Junior's hands are also very low. This guy was being really easy on him.

But it's just sparring. However my reaction is in response to it being touted (in the video title) that he's sparring an Olympian, as if that is suppose to be some great accolade.

For a "world" heavyweight champion sparring an amateur middleweight, who supposedly is some kind of tremendous boxer, I would expect better.

I think we all know that if JDS's boxing level would be at a top level (like at any other MMAfighter), he wouldn't compete in MMA, cause boxing is where you can make money.

Facing this fact i think his performance wansn't bad. Yes he is no Mighty Mo but a legit fighter.

I think that is probably a rhetorical question. Obviously much better, and bigger.

No I actually have no idea about boxing... I just remember Fedor having a strong first round against Dennis landing what basically would've been a "wobbling" right hand. A more average second round, not sure whether Dennis was going easy on him though... But comparing the performances maybe Fedor has better boxing than JDS... It would be a good time for him to move to the UFC, with a striker as champ he doesn't have to worry about being put on his back... I have a feeling Dana would give him Velasquez first though, and perhaps even Carwin.

@Nogo
I see and agree...but tbh all my post was just an initiation to the conclusion that he is no Mighty Mo.

Fedor's boxing > JDS boxing

Also, Overeem will have to shoot for a takedown to beat JDS. Overeem has horrible hands, guy only throws hooks. JDS will end his night with a straight right.

The Brazillian dude in the clip was a pretty slick boxer, and obviously if he is an Olympian it shows he is a very good amateur boxer. Lebedev on the other hand is a top contender in the paid ranks at 200 pounds (bigger than the other guy), and his even fought for a world title already (after the Fedor sparring, so he may have been more green at that time, but it speaks to his quality as a professional boxer), dropping a razor thin split decision that a lot of people thought he deserved to win. Completely different classes of fighters, really. You have a very good amateur on the one hand and a top pro on the other.

Overeem has an 82" reach, and doesn't throw a fuckin' jab.

Yea, how the fuck can you have that long of a reach and not know how to throw a JAB!

Overeem will have to shoot for that takedown. No way will Overeem out box JDS.

Also JDS has never been knocked out, Overeem however pretty much lives on the canvas.

I guess this must be the first round.

It looked like a very competitive round. Fedor landed some good shots, and even went to the body in a couple times. He finds a home for the lead right against the southpaw Lebedev pretty often.

This looked like a more active round from both guys, with Lebedev turning it on more. Fedor continued to find a home for the lead right, but Lebedev clearly did the much better work. Lebedev throwing combination and capitalizing on Fedor's mistakes, such as catching Fedor reaching a couple times. Lebedev shows his class in this round, but Fedor doesn't look like he doesn't belong in there. It is obvious that Lebedev is the better boxer, but Fedor knows what he's doing in there. I always wish Fedor would keep his hands up though.
