Thoughts on M-1's "RAGE"

Ok so the Gp started today and we got to see how the "RAGE" holds up in mma, for me the jury is still out im not sold on it 100% just yet, I noticed that the bottom net worked well when fighters were on the ground, however it is huge and imo this gives more room for possible problems.

1) The ropes were spaced a little too wide imo for something this large, it was fine for the Heavyweights but the smaller guys seemed to go through the middle ropes rather easy, something that wasn't that big of a problem with M-1's smaller Ring. Yes part of this was mainly in one fight due to Abdulaev seemingly hell bent on forcing his opponent out of the "RAGE". Almost as if he was told to do so.....

2)Build quality, I thought it was nice up untill I saw the Garner- Glukhov fight, the rope snaped.....WTF? During chat Johan made a great observation when he stated the ropes were too loose near the end of the event, then boom in Kenny's fight a rope gets loose, proving he was correct in his observation. Now this is a easy fix, im assuming they crew is not 100% at building this thing as a traditional ring, Simple fix tighten that shit up, modify the design if need be.

3.) The name, now I don't have a problem with it, reason being it makes since part ring part cage all though its mostly ring. If this helps M-1 get media attention and hype so be it plus the kids in the crowd loved it. Love to see the pups digging it.

4) Other then Abdulaev who was being a complete p.o.s all fight, the fighters seemed to have no problems in it and they adapted well to it.

Those are my thoughts about it, overall I suppose I liked it and it was a hell of alot better then I was thinking it was going to be. #1 concern and priority Tighten the fucking ropes!

What are you guys thoughts on it?

The rage was pretty good, not much difference from the normal ring. Tighten up the ropes real hard the next time and it will be alright.

Yes it´s good to give things a chance. If they only had tighter ropes it would have been a hit but this should be easy to fix for the next event.

Not a fan of the Rage. I hope they go back to a normal ring ASAP.

it kinda looked weird but at the same time it looked cool. its something different and with a little adjustments here and there it could work

M-1 is almost PRIDE level

Alot less stoppages than the ring thats for sure but still more audience friendly unlike the cage.

Guys are still getting trapped or pinned against it like the cage. That means it too gives fighters with better wrestling skills/pedigree to have a big advantage. MMA should be as close to a level playing field for all martial arts, ground, standing or a mixture of both. The rage is not the answer either.

To this point ropes have come closest to being the most fair for everybody. The only thing that would make things 100% level for all would be no impediments used as tools at all.

I thought it was a lame idea initially but after seeing it tested with action it wasn't too bad. They need to make it only 4 sides though somehow.

I wonder if Vadim could get this made of rope???

how about we cut the BS and just use this? that way it won't favor any fighting style

Yeah that bottom mesh didn't work. I've seen that before and it was the same thing so I'm surprised they would go with that.

I don't like the six sides either. Too pro wrastling for my taste.

I like it. I seen an M'Pumbu fight on a ropeless cageless mat. It was pretty cool. There have been some MMA fights on a mat with no sides.
