Bellator's sixth season pushed back a week, Bellator 60 slotted for March 9 in Indiana
Fri Jan 20, 2012 4:10 pm
Bellator's sixth season has been pushed back a week, and the March 9 event in Hammond, Ind., will serve as the season-opening Bellator 60 show.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the plans with event sources.
Tickets for the show, which features featherweight champ Joe Warren vs. Pat Curran and the opening round of an eight-man featherweight tournament, go on sale today at 11 a.m. ET (10 a.m. CT local time).
No specific reason was given for the delay, though the Horseshoe Hammond resort is near Bellator's Chicago headquarters. Additionally, Bellator now will avoid the busy March 2 weekend, when UFC on FX 2 airs on March 2 and "Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey" airs on March 3.
Bellator officials recently announced plans for the March 9 event, though event numbering wasn't used. Now slotted as Bellator 60, the event's main card airs on MTV2 (and in high-definition on EPIX) and prelims stream on Spike.com. The entire 12-week season will use the same broadcast format.
Tickets for the show, which range from $42 to $107, can be purchased at www.thevenue-chicago.com.
The latest card includes:
Champ Joe Warren vs. Pat Curran (for featherweight title)
Marlon Sandro vs. Roberto Vargas (featherweight tourney opening round)
Wagnney Fabiano vs. Ronnie Mann (featherweight tourney opening round)
Alexandre "PoPo" Bezerra vs. Genair da Silva (featherweight tourney opening round)
Jeremy Spoon vs. Daniel Straus (featherweight tourney opening round)
