GLOBAL-MMA Ranking Rules

*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of two spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title or a tournament championship with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion
last fought in.

*Rankings will be updated every month.

Good point. When is Horiguchi's next fight? I can get him in there after his next win or after someone drops off.

Could possibly be in June at Vale Tudo Japan 2013, if not then, definitely by the end of the summer.

Problem is, there's not a clear cut challenger for him right now. Could be against an import like Wilson Reis, Hideo Tokoro is an outside possibility, or even against the Pacific Rim champ Uruka Sasaki, although I wouldn't chance putting a prospect through a loss.

Would be great if they could get Wilson Reis or Tokoro. Hope he gets that fight in June.

Thanks Johan. I didn't forget about Koreshkov either. Just waiting until his next fight. Future tournament winners will be top 10 as well. I updated the ranking rules to take the restrictions off tournament winners similar to the champions rule. I dropped Aleks a bit after he retired and then returned to ProFC.

Thanks man. Yup, if Monson beats Malikov he will be moving on up. M-1 is doing great things with this GP, they are loading up the HW rankings. Gluhov and Ka are newly added from round 1.

Rumble will be ranked number 2 if he beats Blachowicz at WSOF.

Burkman will be top 5 if he beats Fitch coming up.

Fighters will start passing up McKee quick as they continue to get wins. A win over Cobb will def. give Gaethje a boost in the rankings. He was impressive as hell against JZ.

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, I'm aware of him. He is on a good streak for sure. Just saw he has a fight coming up on June 2nd. MFC HW champ (whoever wins this Friday) is another that could end up in the HW rankings.

Its only been recently since he's put together a streak of wins. He's where he deserves to be at currently, IMO. Could fight Riki Fukuda soon, which should help greatly.

Another solid HW on the cusp is Rolles Gracie. We will see how they do in their upcoming fights.

Its only been recently since he's put together a streak of wins. He's where he deserves to be at currently, IMO. Could fight Riki Fukuda soon, which should help greatly.

That sounds good. We can see how he does in his title defense or if someone in contenders drops off, he can make the list. I have him right at the top waiting to enter. Basically 16th ranked MW.

Of the top of my head; Montague, Campuzano, and Urushitani (against contender Docyogen) all have fights coming up soon.

I believe Makovsky's 125 debut is either this month or next, which will determine where he lands in upcoming rankings. Might be a fringe contender depending on whether Sergio Pettis looks good in his next fight or not, as he's right outside of the top fifteen.

It'll be interesting to see how Makovsky looks at 125. He was always sized for that division. Pettis is another solid option.

That Docyogen/Urushitani fight at ONE should be a good one. Wouldn't mind seeing Docyogen take that one.

i agree people judge him beacuse he ran out of gas in his only ufc fight, but this guy submissions are second to none in the hw division!!!

huckaba is a tough cookie he went to distance with the ranked grabowski so a win for rolles could play on his ranking or contender status...

good call cd...

Getting the HWs lining up. Shamil Abdurahimov may need to drop off to make room for one of these guys. He hasn't fought in over 1 year and 1 month and he is only 1-1 in the last 1 1/2 years. He has been getting passed up left and right but may be time for him to fall off like Raz and Guram.

It'd probably be better for the division if Docyogen got the win, considering he's still pretty young and has a lot of upside in regards to giving Kojima a tough fight. Fighting Kojima and Urushitani in a row will be a tough task though.

When speaking of the Pacific Rim champion, I meant Yusuke Yachi lol.

Have no idea why I said Uruka.
