The article they quote for the story is Lashley saying that he is one of the guys being considered for a fight with Fedor. That's from Lashley, not an independent party. It also says he's talking with Bellator. It makes sense that he is trying to gain leverage by saying he has multiple suitors. At best if they wanted to run with the story they could make it clear this is a rumor. Definitely not:

I just saw this on facebook. It would be a good NYE fight but that's about it. We should wait and see though because they always make up stories about M-1 and last I heard they were talking to Blagoi Ivanov.

This, the article their story came from is way different. Lashley is just talking about multiple possibilities like going to Bellator, fighting Fedor or Batista. They way the bloodyelbow article is headlined and written, it sounds like it's a done deal.

After going 2-0 last year, things are looking promising for former pro wrestler Bobby Lashley’s mixed martial arts career in 2012. One exciting development in Lashley’s career is the possibility of a signing with rapidly rising promotion Bellator.

Breaking the news to Fighters Only when we visited him at his American Top Team: Altitude gym in Colorado, Lashley explained, “It was a contract that was just put on the table... I got the call yesterday so I don't even know any of the details of the deal. I think Bellator is a great company and I would love to be able to fight for them.”

Lashley also spoke about the possibility of a fight with the legendary Fedor Emelianenko. "The guy's got a tremendous amount of fights under his belt... I'd like to fight him.”

According to Lashley, Fedor’s managers are currently looking for the Russian MMA veteran’s next opponent, and his name is on the list of potential matchups. “I'm going to throw everything at him that I can. Of course, my wrestling's there, I don't give a damn what he's doing. I'd put my wrestling up there with almost anyone right now.

“I think that my wrestling would trump some of the things that he has. I know he's a great fighter, but if I fought him then of course I'm going to try and wrestle him down... If it was Dave [Bautista], I'm standing and banging with him. I've been doing a lot of boxing."

A potential bout between Lashley and fellow former WWE star Dave Bautista, aka Batista, is something that has been on the minds of fans and reporters for quite some time now. Though it remains to be seen if that fight will ever happen, the ATT heavyweight is still interested in the idea.

“I know a lot of people are looking at that fight and saying I shouldn't take it, but that's the entertainment aspect of [MMA]. If the wrestling fans want that then it's an opportunity for me to have a fight, which will probably warrant a good amount of money... I'll take that fight, no problem.”

At 35 years old, it is clear that Lashley is as hungry as any young upcoming fighter in the sport. “I wanna fight the best, so if I have an opportunity to fight Fedor, let's do it. If I have an opportunity to fight anyone right now let’s just damn do it.”

Rather see FEDOR fight Bob Sapp then this.

Lashley isn´t on Fedors level but it would be an entertaining fight. He´s 7-1 with 5 finishes and dominated Griggs before gassing out.

Lashley is actually pretty tough, but only for 1 round. He has a limited skill set but he is good at that one skill set. He is just another big wrestler who good GnP, but again, he is only good for 5 minutes, then he is gassed out.

He is training with Barnett now so maybe he will be able to do something down the line. If Fedor ends up fighting him, so be it, he looks big and tough and is a wrestling champ but I would rather see Fedor fight (pretty much in this order):

1. Kharitonov
2. Blagoi Ivanov
3. Rizzo or Ricco
4. Rematch with Arlovski/Sylvia winner assuming they fight in ProElite
5. Lashley if no one else is availble or he has looked improved in some fights and has some hype behind him

Lashley is a tomato can who demands a high paycheck based on his WWE circus background ALONE, not based on MMA performance, this clown doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as the GOAT.

This. Even if he is on the list, I think Lashley would be picked for Fedor as the last possible resort.

M-1: Fedor aiming for 2 to 3 fights in 2012

Fedor Emelianenko likely will return to action in early summer, his management team said Tuesday.

No opponent has been chosen yet for the heavyweight star's next fight, according to Evgeni Kogan, director of operations for M-1 Global. A report that former pro wrestler Bobby Lashley is being considered is premature, Kogan wrote in an e-mail to USA TODAY.

"There are currently no concrete conversations about Bobby being the next opponent for Fedor," Kogan wrote, adding that Emelianenko probably will fight two or three times this year.

Possible locations for the summer fight include Monaco and Russia, according to Kogan.

Emelianenko, the consensus No. 1 heavyweight in mixed martial arts from 2003 to 2009, snapped a three-fight losing streak with a November victory against veteran Jeff "The Snowman" Monson.
