they have razak al-hassan, francisco france, jake heun, tony holder, tiller and mike kyle on their roster at lhw

no big names, i expect a new adition or a catchweight with a small hw, well see

The World Series of Fighting Welterweight champ "Toquinho" responds to top contender Jon Fitch.

Rousimar Palhares responded when Tatame.com related some Jon Fitch to him. The former UFC title contender had said last October that he would turn down a fight against "Toquinho" because of the WSOF welterweight champion's reputation of holding submissions after the opponent has tapped out. The two are set to face each other at WSOF 11, on July 5, although Fitch is claiming he's owed the fight in June. Here's what Palhares said:

I know that I'll be ready. I can't talk for nobody. He can say whatever he wants, what he thinks, what he feels. I know that I'm here working to hold that belt with me for a long time. If he wants to take it from me, I guarantee that it won't be easy, he will have to fight. This belt won't leave so soon from here.
Palhares submitted Steve Carl at WSOF 9 to win the promotion's 170-pound title, on March 29. Fitch is coming off a split decision win against Marcelo Alfaya at WSOF 6 last October.

Like several UFC veterans before him, Jake Shields found a soft landing spot with WSOF. The top-ranked free agent welterweight inked an exclusive deal with the promotion on Thursday.

News of the signing was initially reported by Bleacher Report and subsequently confirmed by MMAFighting.com.

Shields' manager Lex McMahon characterized the signing as a multi-fight deal, while WSOF executive vice president told MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani that officials are targeting a promotional debut for Shields in July.

Shields joins a welterweight division already populated by former UFC veterans, including WSOF champion Rousimar Palhares and top contenders Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman.

"Jake is happy to call WSOF home and is looking forward to a long relationship," McMahon said.

A former Strikeforce champion, Shields was released from the UFC in early April following his first loss in almost third years, a lopsided decision to Hector Lombard at UFC 171.

"I think, obviously, Jake was disappointed," McMahon recently said on The MMA Hour. "He is a guy who for many years has been a champion, fought on a championship level, been top ranked. He was on a four-fight win streak prior to the Lombard loss, so I think it was something that took him by surprise, but he's prepared to move forward."

Shields joined the UFC in 2010 following the dissolution of Strikeforce. The 35-year-old compiled a 4-3 record with one no contest over the course of his stay, including a unanimous decision loss to then welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 129.

Should Shields debut for WSOF in July, it may be at WSOF 11, an event which already features two title bouts --Palhares vs. Fitch and Justin Gaethje vs. Nick Newell -- as well as the WSOF debut of fellow UFC veteran Melvin Guillard.

Sucks...wanted to see Palhares heal hook Fitch. Shields is a good replacement though.

I've honestly wanted to see this fight for awhile, as I think their styles compliment each other well. Although it has good chance of being a boring fight, the potential for just as much of an exciting fight is too much to possibly pass up.

So is palhares fighting Fitch or is it Fitch vs shields?
