Global-MMA Ranking Rules

*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of three spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title or a tournament championship with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion
last fought in.

*Rankings will be updated every month.

Man, i'm fucking sick of hearing the same complaints about flyweight and below.

Of course it's going to be dominated by Asian based fights, considering flyweight fights have been happening there often for TEN YEARS before the UFC even instituted this division.

They want more Brazilian and American fighters? Maybe if more Brazilians were on winning streaks and Americans didn't jump to the UFC after two straight victories, you'd get your wish.

Until then, go fuck yourself with your illogical fallacies.

Yeah, the FLW rankings look good to me. Like you said Asia has been running that division a long time.

There is a few fighters I could make a case for at 125. Alexis Vila is still an elite fighter and is back fighting at 125. Czar Sklavos and Hiromasa Ogikubo are currently competing in the Vtj tournament and their records are solid enough to look at. Other prospects like Cage Warriors Marcin Lasota and Titan fc fighters Pedro Nobre and Giovanni Santos are close to being in the mix. Brit Pietro Menga looks awesome but he needs a step up in competition. Aussie Nick Honstein just pulled a big upset over Sean Santella so he would be on my list. There are some good 125ers out there that aren't Japanese.

I forgot about Jonathan Brookins. If he can win some more at 125 and not have any weight issues, he's definitely worthy. But I feel like he would be left off due to his ufc ties and likelihood of being re signed.

All of these guys are on my radar and I see Lasota, Ogikubo, and Menga doing big things, but the rankings are based on body of work.

Alexis Vila is fighting in WSOF's bantamweight division, otherwise he'd be a contender, since his previous body of work holds up.

Sklavos and Ogikubo are just outside of my top 20 and they will certainly move up if they can manage to make the VTJ Flyweight finals. Sklavos has an excellent chance to move into the contenders with a win over our number one ranked Ryuichi Miki. Ogikubo is only in his second bout at flyweight and if he wins the tournament, he could possibly be top five.

Menga is in my top 20 and Lasota is fringing on that with his last victory. A win over the other for either guys will greatly increase their stock and move them beyond. Otherwise, they just need to continue winning against good competition.

Nobre is also relatively new at 125, so I can't justify top 15 right yet, but he's got the skill to belong there. Honstein is also between top 25-30 with the win over Santella.

Brookins needs to amass a win streak against respectable competition before really making a splash. Henry Cejudo is another guy that has top 15 talent, but he has issues making weight and fighting against decent competition. His scrapped fight recently would've helped his case.

The skill level elsewhere might be as high or even better than Japan, but the depth just isn't...yet. Like I said, there's been flyweight fights for well over a decade there, so of course they're going to have a larger pool of fighter, ensuring secure fights. Which is something that hasn't really happened elsewhere until Tachi Palace Fights in the mid 00s and the same with Shooto Brazil.

Ah, I thought it was another bantamweight fight since i've always seen Honorio as a bantamweight. Anyways, they've got two other guys at 125 to my knowledge. Just up to WSOF to give these guys fights.
