Price is right? Nick Diaz reportedly (still) interested in Anderson Silva fight

But it won't come cheap.

Less than two years ago, a "super fight" between Anderson Silva vs. Nick Diaz "made no sense" and would "never happen."

Back-to-back losses, a shattered shin and a premature mixed martial arts (MMA) retirement, however, might change all that in early 2015.

Emphasis on "might."

That's because Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and its president, Dana White, would ultimately have to sign off on a match seemingly years in the making. And unfortunately for the ZUFFA bottom line, "one of the biggest fights in UFC history" carries a hefty price tag.

Diaz told Ariel Helwani at UFC Tonight that he doesn't intend to leave his self-imposed retirement unless it makes "financial sense."

The good news for the Stockton slugger, is that headlining a UFC pay-per-view (PPV) opposite a megastar like Silva will undoubtedly draw a ridiculous number of eyeballs. Partly because "The Spider" is one of the greatest fighters who ever competed inside the cage.

But mostly because fans want to see what kind of Silva we'll get post-Chris Weidman.

While the surgically-repaired Brazilian might be at a marked disadvantage against a fellow 185-pounder, particularly one who has managed to stay busy inside the Octagon, Diaz has also been on the shelf for over a year, giving them equal parts ring rust.

Either way, Silva sounds like it's a fight worth considering, according to his manager.

Nothing is official at this time -- including a return date for "The Spider" -- and Diaz has been notoriously wishy-washy when it comes to UFC matchmaking. Silva has also done his fair share of teasing when it comes to "super fights," leaving fans high and dry over names like Jon Jones and Georges St. Pierre.
