Sup G-MMA Crew?
Mon Jul 07, 2014 5:18 pm
I don´t hear much from you guys. Do you still have the passion to change the sport? We created this G-MMA team for a reason but some guys don´t contribute much. How can we reach out to more fans and find more members? What do you think about the forum/site? Maybe a masterplan to take out Zuffa?
Everyone needs to help out with interesting fight cards and fight videos as well as contribute to the discussion. We need to recruit legit members, post our rankings on other sites and work on our FB and Twitter. Is anyone interested in improving our facebook? If someone doesn´t have the time to help the team just let us know. I understand everyone have a lot of other things going on in their lives.

I think there is a few way to help change mma
1. Original content (ie, articles, polls, more event reviews) I always said this would help us get more exposure
2. Update the social media platforms (twitter and Facebook)
3. Work with some organizations in a more official extent (maybe not possible but fun to think of)
4. Help take down zuffa by getting in touch with the United States trade commission and getting a petition going to have them look into zuffa's business tactics
5. Try to get some fighters to endorse us and/or post here
just some suggestions!

Sponsoring fighters would be huge. All we need are small donations from our entire community.
If K1LP can can have fundraisers why couldn't a legitimate place like ourselves do the same?

I don't know. I guess my enthusiasm for the sport is nearing flatline levels. I still enjoy the site and read it every day and try to post as often as possible, but it's gotten kind of hard for me to contribute in the past few months due to overall waning interest in the sport. Also some personal stuff away from the forum has zapped my energy for a lot of things including being a productive member of the crew. If you want to give somebody else a shot on the team in my place, it's cool or if you want to keep me on board, equally as cool. I just can't contribute much of anything beyond making some (crap) posts.
Whatever you feel is best for the site, I fully support.

We should ask for support a ex-UFC fighters which talked against UFC. Leben, Fitch, Ortiz, Shamrock, Couture , Rampage... at least one of them will give us support (probably). Should contact them via facebook, twitter...

I am in a similar position to backdoor to zuffa. I've lost a lot of luster for combat sports in general at the moment, and I think I need to take a sabbatical. Don't get me wrong, I like coming on here, reading the posts and erstwhile posting my thoughts, but I don't think I am in a mindset to contribute at this moment in time.
If the decision is made to unmod me in response to this post, I fully understand. I am sorry to let you all down like this.

Before any new marketing/recruiting drives happen some site management things need to be addressed.
I'm not gonna pull any punches here. I don't want to negatively affect moral for people back here but some things have to be said so we can regain the foundation the site originated from. We have wondered away a whole lot from that.
G-MMA lives and dies by those things. Member attrition & recruiting or discussion activity come after what the site is about. Whatever happens, great or not so great, due to the original focus of the site... is what is meant to be. We cannot become a UFC american MMA-focused site. That just can't happen.
I am about as frustrated as anybody here. The direction of the site and overall tone this past while has made me feel like not even taking the time/bother to post on my favorite events/fighters/promotions and still follow. My feeling is that there are some others that feel the same way. iforgotmypassword sums this up about as well as anyone could...
I don't think WILLIE or Johan will mind me sharing these pm's below with you all. They bring up a number of extremely vital points and I want everyone here to discuss them openly without any fear of being critical.
I think WIILIE was unaware of the skew as it happened over time. I was not saying to him he was only covering what he likes. Previously he had been posting more international MMA news pieces and I think he just forgot to stay focused on that as much as he had been. After drawing WILLIE's attention to this, he made a good effort to not forget about the international MMA stuff.
Theses are pretty self explanatory..
Feel free to lay it all on the table about my comments guys. We're a family and sometimes the gloves come off and things get aired out. After it's over your still family.

can we merge it into the main section and delete zuffa from here? I really dont come to global-mma to read about 57 ufc fight cards going on at the same time. I can do that at sherdog.

Hey Willie,
Lots of crazy stuff going on with the news this week. Good coverage.
Just wanted to say thanks again for all your work. Everybody really appreciates it.
I'd like to make sure we are getting good news coverage right across the board internationally. That is what we founded this place on. I also want to make sure we have 'most' of our focus on the non-Zuffa MMA world.
I want to get your thoughts on how we can best do this so we can give more focus ton international MMA in addition to American MMA. Again, I think based on our non-Zuffa friendly foundation we need only give them a smaller share of our G-MMA news coverage. There are dozens of other sites that already focus on that. There are also many forums that do as well.
I pulled these stats from your news posts from this past weekend til today just to get a snap shot of where I feel we could shift some of our news focus.

Let me know your thoughts on how we could achieve what I'm hoping for here. Do you have enough European, easter-Euro, Asian, etc. news sources?

Fuck I wanna shoot somebody
From Dagwood To Golden Age , Sun Apr 13, 2014 2:48 pm
Bellator has one of the best MMA events in years with like 70% ko's & subs and there's 1 or 2 comments after. Volkov gets one of the best and most technical headkicks KO's ever and no fucks were given. I bet you Mirko sure thought it was great. Ivanov has an amazing performance and is turning back into a beast for HW anywhere and not a fucking mention!
Then there's M-1. Not a fucking whisper about the whole event. TBH it's the same for just about all events. Except for the UFC. The UFC is now getting more action here than any other organization. Fuuuuck!
I post a unique non-news thread and many times get ZERO responses. To see if I'm nuts... I posted a couple of them on Sherdog and the UG (IP unbanned now for some reason) and I get a good amount of replies and discussion.
Still, people do not post their own individual threads. I even put a poll up to shame them. "How many threads do you start a week?" A lot put fucking zero!
Any given time there is like 3-10+ guys on the site just sitting waiting for the fucking thing to happen for them. WTF!

How the fuck can we have a worldwide MMA forum supposedly with people trying to prove that zuffa/america/americans are not the pinnacle of MMA... and only 3 fucking people jumping on my "War Vitaly train"!!!
Fuck this place needs some new blood and new anti-zuffa activists! Lame lame lame lame

I know it´s frustrating. We need all the east euro fans.

I'm relatively new here. I think the site is pretty amazing.
I understand you want to stay focused on global mma and not UFC/North American activity.
I'm strongly anti-Zuffa and have been for a while. Since I've stopped watching/supporting Zuffa I've kind of lost track on a good amount of the going's on in the mma world. I've gone old school and find myself watching dvd's of events from years ago like Brazilian IVC shows and Pride.
This site has helped rekindle my love for mma and I will work to watch/catch up on mma from around the world. Catching up with some the companies and who their stars/rising stars are.
As for the site. New members will help. But....a certain type of new member. Find people who are "specialists" when it comes to certain countries/regions of mma.
They can then post on mma in the region/country they follow. This hopefully will educate new people and draw interest to those shows. If you have a handful of people like that the combination of them will cover a whole lot of the non-Zuffa mma world. A person covering Brazilian mma, another Japanese mma, another Italian mma and so on.
I don't know if that makes sense. Just a couple thoughts off the top of my head.
I guess imo there's 2 main parts.
1) exposure to global mma, i guess just being on this site accomplishes that 2)education. learning about the global mma scene. the companies/fighters

Just some notes I have taken away from the post in this thread. It seems the main problem is some people are going through Combat sports depression and honestly I can see why, I went through one about a year and half ago and considered not watching mma anymore as I said before this site saved me from not being a fan anymore! It made me feel like the true mma scene was not dead like I felt it was.
Now all that being said I can see why people are starting to go through this depression (I am starting to go through it a little myself once again) and I feel like this is for a number of reasons.
1. UFC killing the intrest in the sport
2. Orgs are to content with being feeder leagues (RFA,INVICTA,WSOF*ALLEGEDLY*)
3. Orgs who are not in the feeder category selling off their stars (M-1)
4.Sometimes I feel like if these orgs don't give a shit why should I fight to give them any kind of support
5. Good alternatives are going away such as kickboxing K-1 is a joke almost and GLORY is rumored to be in financial trouble possible going out of business.
6. For many of the members here this is huge the cage is EVERYWHERE now it almost seems like the beloved ring is going the way of the dinosaur.
I feel like we need to just fight through this and keep fighting the good fight!

I actually don't think the shape of the forum is bad.
I speak for myself only, but I can't stand useless trolling, which goes on here sometimes (and goes on in every forum or every active comment space on the internet).
I actually think we pacified the trolls to an extent.
Even if I was calling for purging undesirable trolls from the party, cooler heads won out, and I don't think the forum is in bad shape, from that stand point.
Activity is low. That's something that can be improved, and that is the main topic to consider here, obviously.
I don't have any answer, sorry about that.
I'd post more, but I am a bit busy.
Research papers and work always trying to keep me down.

MMA has been dry and it's starting to be played out especially with all of these juicers ruining the sport by constantly getting busted.
It's a major turn off and I can't take it seriously anymore.
I only watch MMA when any remaining PRIDE FC legends fight.
