Ryan Ford vs. Luis 'Sapo' Santos slated for Bellator 67 in Canada
Wed Mar 07, 2012 2:45 pm
Canadian fighter Ryan Ford (17-4 MMA, 0-0 BFC) will make his promotional debut against Brazilian vet Luis "Sapo" Santos (50-7 MMA, 2-1 BFC) at Bellator 67.
Bellator officials today announced the non-tournament welterweight bout.
Featuring a Michael Chandler vs. Ahihiro Gono non-title main event, Bellator 67 takes May 4 at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada.
The main card, including Ford vs. Santos, airs on MTV2 (and in high-definition on EPIX). Prelims stream on Spike.com.
Ford is a veteran of the Canadian fight circuit, where he's a former MFC title challenger and Aggression MMA champion. He makes his Bellator debut on the strength of a 5-1 run that included four knockouts, including one over former UFC fighter Karo Parisyan. In 17 career wins, Ford owns 16 stoppages (nine knockouts and seven submissions).
Santos debuted with Bellator in 2011 and moved his undefeated streak to 10 fights with decision wins over Nicolae Cury and Dan Hornbuckle. However, in the second round of the season-five welterweight tournament, he suffered a submission loss to UFC veteran Ben Saunders in the semifinals. It was just his second loss in his past 16 fights.
