UFC president cuts Muhammed 'King Mo' Lawal
Tue Mar 27, 2012 8:47 pm
In another devastating blow, former Strikeforce champ Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal has been released from his Strikeforce contract.
UFC president Dana White today confirmed the news to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) but declined to comment on the release.
Following a nine-month suspension issued today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Lawal lashed out on Twitter, which led to his ouster.
Lawal and his reps could not be reached for comment at the time of this writing.
The former light-heavyweight champ took particular aim at NSAC commissioner Pat Lundvall, who questioned him today during a hearing in Las Vegas that eventually led to his suspension.
During the questioning, Lundvall asked Lawal whether he read and understood English in relation to a pre-fight questionnaire that required Lawal to disclose any medications he had taken two weeks prior to the fight as well as any injuries he might have sustained.
"I honestly feel like Lundvall was a racist bitch asking me if I can read or speak english," Lawal tweeted. "Go on somewhere with that [expletive]!!!"
Lawal later explained the tweet, stating he believed the line of questioning was racist due to his past experiences.
"Its funny how people are tryna say that I'm callin the commission racist," he tweeted. "No!! They aren't. But there was one person on the panel that was out of line with the question she asked me. I found it insulting, prejudice, and a lil racist. I say racist from my past experiences, I have been asked that in the past as an insult."
The NSAC voted unanimously to suspend and fine Lawal for a failed drug test following his appearance at "Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine."
Lawal is suspended nine months from the date of the fight, fined 30 percent of an $80,000 "show" purse, and he must surrender his $15,000 win bonus. Additionally, his win has been changed to a no-contest, and he must provide a clean drug test when he reapplies for a fight license in Nevada.
"Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine" took place Jan. 7 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and the main card aired on Showtime. Lawal (8-1 MMA, 3-1 SF) defeated Lorenz Larkin (12-0 MMA, 3-0 SF) via second-round TKO during the broadcast.

Zuffa is losing more and more fighters these days. Rampage is leaving, King Mo, Fedor, Monson, Alexander E., Kharitonov, etc. I hope they lose more guys, it just gives more fighters for other promotions.
Once Rampage is gone from Zuffa we could see Rampage vs King Mo, or even King Mo vs Fedor since Mo has mentioned that fight before.

Yeah, this makes a lot of sense.
Except for the part where thiago silva is still employed, and they hail Royce Gracie as a hero.
And if Dana's firing him for his comments, Here's a flash from the past from mr. Moral high ground himself;

King Mo is having a rough several months here. First he tested positive for PEDs, then he had surgery, then he got terrible staff infection which almost cost him his leg after the surgery, then he had multiple other surgeries due to the infection which he is still fighting, then he was suspended for 9 months and fined tens of thousands of dollars for PEDs, then his win was over turned to a no contest, and then he was fired by his employer.
Damn, I feel bad for him. When it rains it pours I guess.
He'll be back though. King Mo is a warrior and won't let all this shit get in his way. Hopefully he signs for the same promotion that Rampage signs with and we get to see them fight. That would be an awesome fight. There are a number of other great fights for him outside Zuffa.
ONE FC, DREAM, M-1, KSW, or Bellator would be great promotions for Page and Mo.

True. Zuffa is probably not taking him back. So i hope he finds his way. Try new things. Maybe he can even help some other orgs with his name. Now it's time to move on, and not bitch and whine about it or beg to be back. You heard that, Sylvia? I know there's time Tim fans around, but his action lately are depressing.

I actually love that video. I hate Dana white because he's useless for everything except being a mouthpiece, which wasn't needed post 2005, but I can respect the fact that he's in the public eye, and doesn't give a FUCK.
Dana White is a man's man, but he is not the man who should be the front man for anything.
Get that bearded shy motherfucker Lorenzo to be the front man. He doesn't need to say much anyways, promoters should be seen, and not heard.

King Mo does not belong in Bellator LHW division, with their shitty super fight losing champion.

Rampage vs Mo is the perfect titlefight in any promotion. I love when fighters are free from Zuffa, too bad Zuffa destroyed most of their competition so there aren´t many places to go to make a good living.Kinosis wrote:Zuffa is losing more and more fighters these days. Since Vinny is such a crybaby it would be awesome to see Page vs Mo for the M-1 LHW title in front of 25.000 russian fans.CDF47 wrote:King Mo is having a rough several months here. True. Bellator upper classes are their worst. Maybe it's time for Mo to go to europe or asia. Hope the orgs are already contacting him.

i'm not joking. i'd personally rather see Mo fight in the Bellator cage vs. ONE FC cage. if Bellator signed Mo that'd obviously give some strength to their LHW roster and most likely encourage other signings, stop acting like Bellator's LHW division is worthless. clearly M'Pumbu needs to move down to 185 and the loss was to a weight cutting HW in a non-title fight but no, CHAMPS HAVE NEVER LOST NON-TITLE FIGHTS BEFORE. you guys bring up Sengoku, remember when Khalidov destroyed their champ in Santiago? did you guys then also act like you thought SRC MW division was absolute shit?
i'm pretty sure the term GLOBAL does actually include the Americas, not just Asia and Europe.

Good. In case he doesn't leave america, Bellator better work on their upper classes. If they want to start with Mo it's fine. It would be a great add to their roster.

Yeah, I agree. There are some interesting fights for him outside Zuffa and some solid promotions he and Page could go to.

Yup, that would be a sweet fight made anywhere. DREAM or M-1 ring would be sweet for this fight or under full rules in the ONE FC cage.

Regarding Vinny, I think there is a possibility he could end up back w/ M-1. Slava's contract was held up in court and the fines stated in court are huge. Vinny may not have much of a choice if he had a similar champion's clause in his contract. Hopefully he ends up back w/ M-1.
