KYOKUGEN 2016: Masato vs. Gomi - December 31 (OFFICIAL DISCUSSION)

K-1 MAX legend Masato and PRIDE legend Takanori Gomi will clash on Japanese TV channel TBS’s New Year’s Eve show “KYOKUGEN 2016” in a 5 round K-1 rules bout (without a decision in case it goes the full 5 rounds).

KYOKUGEN is a special sports program that airs on TBS every New Year’s Eve. Like last year, which featured a bout between Masato and Norifumi “KID” Yamamoto, it will go head to head with RIZIN’s Fuji TV time slot this New Year’s Eve as well.

Very interesting fight. Just hope they post a video up after it occurs. Probably no way to watch this one live.

This is the second year in a row a UFC guy has been on this show, when does the UFC ever fighter share? It seems like they are trying to sabatoge Rizin.

That's right, two years in a row.  Last year was Kid, this year Gomi.

AH i think RIZIN will be fine it is gaining steam and i see it being a major global force in the years to come

Well at least we know Kid Yamamoto and Gomi are interested in fighting in Japan and maybe Rizin can grab them when their contracts with UFC are up.

What's the deal with Masato? Does Rizin have any chance of grabbing him?

This is an interesting fight. Would have been cool on the Rizin show.

Masato won by decision. He fights here and there so not sure.

Masato is in good shape, i dont know why he retire so young

I don't know. Maybe he will fight again next NYE.
