Bellator MMA will return to Kansas Star Arena  in Mulvane, Kansas., on January 27 with a night of must-see mixed martial arts action, and the two confirmed bout on the Spike-televised portion of the card will feature "The Caveman" David Rickels (17-4) and Aaron Derrow (14-8 ). Also on the main card undefeated prospect Chris Harris (8-0) taking on Jordan Young (5-0).

Melvin Guillard is returning to the Bellator cage, he will meet Chidi Njokuani in the main event of Bellator 171 on Jan. 27 in Mulvane, Kansas.

Guillard (32-16-2, 3 NC) has struggled with weight-cutting issues, missing the lightweight mark in four of his last five bouts. The fight against Njokuani will be at a 175-pound catchweight. Guillard, 33, was once a heralded prospect and is still considered an exciting, all-action fighter.

Njokuani (16-4, 1 NC) has won three straight since coming to Bellator and has not lost a bout since 2013. The brother of former WEC and UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani is coming off a 21-second knockout of Andre Fialho last month.

In the co-main event, Kansas native Rickels takes on Aaron Derrow in a lightweight bout.

Fight with chidi should be a real good one.

It is cool they are letting him fight in the ROAD FC tournament. That's a big money tournament so it makes sense to let him have a shot at it.

A featherweight feature fight pitting A.J. McKee(6-0) against Brandon Phillips (6-2) has been added to the SPIKE-televised main card of Bellator 171

With each of McKee's six professional fights coming under the direction of Bellator MMA, the 21-year-old Team BodyShop product has made a name for himself from day one, showing both exceptional power and elusiveness every time he steps into the cage. After finishing each of his first five opponents with opening round victories, "Mercenary" was finally taken the distance in his most recent bout with Ray Wood, earning a hard-fought unanimous decision win at Bellator 166.

Taking his ninth professional fight, 27-year-old Brandon Phillips will participate in the main card action for the first time in his Bellator MMA career. Phillips began his professional career with a bang, delivering five consecutive victories, with four knockouts, and earning well-deserved attention from the Scott Coker-led promotion. Phillips made his Bellator MMA debut in 2016, collecting a unanimous decision victory over Chuka Willis at Bellator 159. After recording finishes in five of six career wins.

this card is weak as fuck

Guillard vs chidi is a great fight,rickels gets a lesser opponent not good fight,AJ mckee fighting anyone is fun to watch,then two girls i never heard of lol.


It's a decent card nothing special for sure.

I thought the card was decent too/a little bit weak but didn't really deliver.

It may be getting there. He didn't look to good in this fight. Just not the old Guilldard.

This fight wasn't a good representation of guillard......hes a lw not a ww he was absolutely dwarfed by chidi.


This was likely his last fight with Bellator,i hope he does well in the million dollar tournament but he better get in shape he looked like shit.

The tournament will be a good opportunity for Guillard to rebound. Hope he does well there.
