Stipe Miocic the next to leave the ufc for Bellator?
Thu Jul 20, 2017 10:16 am
Contrary to reports, Stipe Miocic has no plans of returning to action any time soon.
That’s according to his management, who told MMAFighting.com on Wednesday that there has not been serious talk of his next fight or challenger since his first-round knockout of Junior dos Santos in May.
According to his team, the main issue is Miocic, who is on the verge of beating the heavyweight record for most title defenses (2), has earned less than his challenger in his last two title defenses against JDS and Alistair Overeem.
And so his team says Miocic isn't willing to discuss his next fight until issues with his contract are properly addressed.
On Wednesday, BJPenn.com reported that Miocic was set to fight Cain Velasquez in October, however, in addition to Miocic’s contract issues, sources say, Velasquez’s surgically-repaired back has yet to fully heal.
Miocic, who is typically a man of few words, has dropped hints over the past year regarding his unhappiness with his current contract.
“It definitely should change,” Miocic said about his contract on “The MMA Hour” in January. “But the fact that (Overeem) made more money than me in my last fight was just kind of a slap in the face.
“[It’s] terrible,” he added. “Things definitely need to be changed. Something’s gotta change. It’s not really fair.”
Nothing changed before the JDS fight in May, according to sources, but it now appears as though Miocic isn’t willing to fight again until his contract issues are addressed.
The Miocic-Velasquez fight could happen at some point later this year — after all, it would make sense from a booking standpoint to pit Miocic versus the former champion Velasquez — but according to sources, talk of it being set for October — or at all, for that matter -- is premature.

Another ufc fighter who isn't happy. It's also pathetic that his next challenger is Cain Velasquez who is 1-1 in the last 4 years; his only win being Travis Browne who everyone beats. That gets you a title shot in the ufc now? Beating Travis Browne as your only win in 4 years?

^That would be a great title fight.
Hopefully Miocic will leave the ufc as well. He has beaten everyone active at HW who matters in the ufc. He is young for HW as well (old for any other division).

They are they're so desperate for Cain to be champion so they can tag him with the goat heavyweight title . Besides if Cain wins the belt for a 3rd time which couture already did I bet they don't know that is there a guarantee that Cain can defend more than once every 6 months to a year.
If that Francis nganou beats JDS he deserves a title shot more then Cain
Personally I think Cain should have at least 2 more contender matches to show he can fight more often then once a year .

Wait yeah its 2017....
His last wins were2016 and 2013
He won twice in 2013 over bigfoot and JDS,and once in 2016 over browne and lost once to werdum in 2015.
2017-4 =2013
So hes 3-1 in the last 4 years.

Remember that The UFC and the zombies already bestowed the title of Heavyweight Greatest of all Time to Cain after the third Dos Santos fight and it's blown up in their face given his injuries and the Werdum loss. The UFC has also wanted Cain to be the face of their Mexican expansion.
I agree with Cain needing to prove he can stay healthy but the heavyweight division has mostly aging names and not many younger fighters making it to the top.

He's 1-1 since October 2013 so basically nearly four years. 3 years 9 months.
