Great matchup, though indeed a surprising announcement on Askren's retirement.
Too bad to see him go. That said, at least he's not the most exciting fighter, so I won't miss his fights as much as I otherwise might.
I still enjoy his fights and all, but we all know what I mean here.

True, he's not the most entertaining fighter.

That was amazing. I wish Askren would stick around, at least get to 20-0. I would love to know how far he could go on this winning streak.

Where would folks rank Ben in the welterweight all time RANKINGS. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1584698831553309&id=200515209971685 no a fighter should not have to compete in the ufc to be an all time great. Some of the comments you have to be in the ufc or else you suck and you have to be a yes man and a arse kisser.

That's really close. I would put him at number one or two with GSP. I think I might even have him top off GSP because I think between the two, Askren would win.

The guy does have some of the best wrestling in any division and Ben is a better wrestler then gsp who relys more on being explosive to get his takedown, gsp has the better stand up from what I heard he trains with Tyrone Woodley and he has trouble stuffing Bens take downs.

My top 5
1 gsp
2 matt Hughes
3 Ben askren
4 nick Diaz
5 Douglas Lima
I put gsp and Matt as 1 and 2 they're the more accomplished 2 at welterweight. In my opinion a person shouldn't get a goat status just cause they won a ufc belt. Prime example shogun yes he won the light heavyweight championship but that 2005 pride fc middle weight grand prix is and will be the bigger accomplishment.

Hughes and Askren is a tough call for the second spot of all time greats.
