Someone here plays Pro Wrestling games? i used to be an addict, and now i'm becoming again thanks fo WWE '12.
Other ones i played a lot were WWF Wrestlemania The Arcade Game. Is not very well known but damn me and my friends had some fun playing it all day, WCW vs NWO World Tour too and SvR: Here comes the pain.
And what about MMA games? The only one playabe to me is EA MMA, that will probably don't have a sequel.

Fighting games I have played: Tekken 1,2,3,4,5, and 6, two DOA games I think 3 and 4, Virtual Fighter 4,
Street Fighter 2 and I demoed the latest one, a bunch of Marvel vs Capcom type games and Soul Calibur 4 (demoed 3)
I consider Fight Night more sports game and I don't think Bushido Blade is what we're talking about here (as awesome as it is)
By far the best is the Tekken games. To me its not even close as I actually don't like any of the ones I mentioned except Soul Caliber.
Tekken is the only hand to hand arcade that gets the fundamentals correct (Soul Calibur being a swords game)
The fundamentals being control, timing and distance.
The rest feel clunky, aloof and its very difficult to correctly judge the distance. Things you think should land don't and things that look out of range hit.
The controls are easily the best and simplest, which encourages the player to work on strategy, the way it should be.
Street Fighter has awesome characters and art but it doesn't get the combat aspect right.
The Marvel vs Capcom type games are a mess and unplayable to me.
The best Tekken is 5 as it has all the relevant characters (4 doesn't have the thai boxing stylist).
3 has the best music and holds a lot of nostalgia value though, on top of that Xiaoyu was made useless in the installments after 3 (never played Tag)
Tekken 6 is a disappointment as it more aloof than 5, 3 and probably 4, and they added a bunch of lame, pointless, lots of spinning move characters.
I also wish they'd get rig of juggling and focus more on tactics and strategy, but 5 will probably remain best for a while.

my favorite fighting games are probably Street Fighter Alpha III (this game ruined my thumb so many times) on PSX and Mortal Kombats 1-3+Ultimate on SNES but my fighting game i'm best at is probably the Smash Bros. games (melee>original>brawl) which aren't really conventional fighting games though.

Interesting one. Sometimes these indie developers can make games better than most of the big companies. Lots of small ones have been doing great lately. Right now i'm keeping an eye at the company making Overgrowth, those guys are amazing.
Anyway, Maybe it don't fit exactly in the "fighting game" category, but one genre i miss is the old beat n' ups. Now that shooting has become realistic and easy to do every company seen to have ignored fighting completly. The only game that let us beat the crap out of everyone is batman.

I do. I've played at least 90% of all wrestling games ever made and this is still the best
I've been playing it for years and still fun.
It has MMA mode, UWF rules...It's awesome!

Yeah it is gory, the character designs and bio of the characters is very unique. The music is kind of morbid 80s sci fi.
Yeah they used the old school MK way of filming the characters.
definitely a ultra violent game and it's cool that it's PC only too.

Kensei: Sacred Fist (PS1) was an interesting game...
At first glance a Tekken clone, it had several unique points of gameplay that differentiated it from it's obvious influences.
Had dynamic blocking- from what I remember you had to time your block instead of holding the button down; (a poorly timed press would cause your character to receive less damage, but stumble from the force) your character actually avoids moves (rather than remaining stationary, guarding, with blue smoke coming out every time you take a punch).
It also contained a basic ground game with grappling/counter grappling/ground and pound etc
Plus it was pretty fun... 7.5/10

Indie game Skull girls created by a fighting game tournament player named Mike Z.
If you try to do infinite combos the game will recognize it and you can press any button to break out of it.

Never heard of it. Looks good. Are the controls like Tekken (with buttons assigned for left punch, right punch, left kick, right kick)
To me that is one of the major appeals of Tekken (the other being distance gauging and timing)
Unfortunately it looks like it has juggling as well, but at least not so much.
