Kyoji Horiguchi will rumble with Manabu Inoue
Fri May 18, 2012 5:12 pm
Young Shooto sensation Kyoji Horiguchi's next fight is set for Shooto's July 16 show.
The Krazy Bee phenom will battle former King of Pancrase and Catch Wrestler, Manabu Inoue.
This will be Inoue's debut fight in Shooto as the U.W.F. Snakepit fighter has spent all but 3 of his 23 fight career in Pancrase. He is coming off a majority decision loss to Shintaro Ishiwatari and a win over Kyoji would mark him as one of the best Bantamweights in Japan. No guts, no glory and Inoue has plenty of guts.
Mr. Horiguchi on the other hand has become the Ace of Shooto, almost overnight. Exploding onto the scene with 5 vicious stoppage wins in 6 fights, Kyoji is any promoters dream. His combination of blinding speed, huge power and takedown defense, Kyoji bewildered all who faced him...until he met top 5 Bantam, Masakatsu Ueda. Kyoji would drop a majority decision, in an incredible fight that could've been a draw. But "The one who doesn't fall, doesn't stand up" and Kyoji jumped back up with a thrilling KO of Tetsu Suzuki.
Inoue poses many of the same problems Ueda did, will he derail the freight train or will Kyoji pick up the biggest win of his career? We'll see on July 16!

Great fight, Inoue is younger and quicker than Ueda and his chin isn't quite as iffy. This seems to be an even tougher fight.
Horiguchi looked good in avoiding Hadairo's grappling who is a pretty high level grappler himself. If he can stay on the outside and work his striking, then Kyoji has this in the bag. Big if's though.
