Ron Sparks was honestly a pretty good signing at the time but he suffers from Shane Carwin syndrome. Size, power, rudimentary skills. Good guy for a fledgling promotion to have but not build around.
I say they forget all about previous entrants and just put every new signing in the tournament. Take the top four of both tournaments and then you have the next field. They're in excellent position.
Here's what I would like to see:
Queiroz/Rogers
Barnett/Magomedov
Kudin/Martinez
Minakov/Madsen

M-1 had the best HW roster outside Zuffa but now Bellator is catching up. Kudin is 13-1 in his last 14 and KO/TKOed most of his opponents. Barnett is a prospect people talked about for a couple of years now. He holds a win over Deuce but Deuce is much better now.moronoRepublic wrote:Recent signings:

Ryan Martinez was in the ProElite HW tourney right? I thought he was supposed to fight Odoms in the final but maybe ProElite is done. Former M-1 fighter Vitaly Minakov is the best signing here. He´s 8-0 and just KOed Eddie Sanchez.

I think if everything goes according to plan, then Bellator will have a superior HW division. Very youthful and talented. They might not be huge names right now but most have the potential to be. M-1 has some good prospects too but most of their division heavily rely on veterans who don't have much more than five years left in them.
ProElite is pretty much done, too. No news at all since their last event and it seems like all their fighters (outside of Arlovski, Sylvia, and Ellis) have fought elsewhere. With Odoms brought up, while not the youngest fighter by any means, i'd like to see him signed up.

No way bellator will bring Josh, he sill have some fights left on his deal, ufc will bring him and bellator don't pay purses like he makes on SF yet unless they do something witch pro-wrestiling on Spike like King Mo.moronoRepublic wrote:Ron Sparks was honestly a pretty good signing at the time but he suffers from Shane Carwin syndrome. Yeah, Bellator is putting together a solid HW roster. Looking forward to their HW tournament.
LHW division still needs a bit of work but it is improved from where it was just a few months ago. LHW tournament should be pretty sweet this summer. It starts next week already.

Mo and Vegh already makes the field ten times better. So does Lins.
They need more Brazilians though.

I agree. Those are great improvements. More Brazilians at 205 are definitely needed. Jungle Fight and Shooto Brazil are good places to start looking for some solid prospects (among others).

Unfortunate here we don't have much telent at hw, the talent is wide spreed on the regional shows (most of them showed live on a subscribe chanel) around the country. Shooto basically don't have hw fights and their matchmaking to protect some guys is suspect. Jungle Fights are not the same anymore, the promotion now is used to showcase fighters managed by Wallid Ismail (owner of the show) more than do a legitimate fight league and again very few heavyweights fights.

And what talent there is have all been signed up.
Bellator already has Thiago Santos, who would be an incredible talent if he can keep his weight and check. Queiroz has potential but a loss to Broughton is a bit disheartening.
UFC has Edinaldo Oliveira, another fighter with great potential who was unfortunately thrown to the wolves.
Outside of that, nothing too spectacular really.
Mondragon is a beast but isn't exactly talented. Marcio Cruz is getting pretty old. Guilherme Dos Anjos would be intriguing but he's well over the 265 limit.
They really need some more 205ers though. I thought for sure they would pick up Wagner Prado before the UFC but they can still get guys like Carlos Eduardo and Francimar Barroso.

LHW Tournament actually looks pretty damn good.
Vegh, Wiuff, Hale, Tribolet, Boughton/Newton.
Some really good fights in store.
