UFC on Fox 4: Machida vs Bader Breakdown
Fri Jul 27, 2012 2:04 pm
Alright guys, UFC on Fox 4 is coming up next weekend. Oddly enough, this card is way better than the last UFC PPV event, and it’s free! In the co-main event we have Lyoto Machida vs Ryan Bader.
Lyoto Machida
Lyoto Machida is coming in off of a loss against champ Jon Jones (which he looked fantastic in until the end) and hasn’t fought in 8 months. His inactivity isn’t Machida’s fault as he had been trying to get a big name fight, it’s just everyone else was injured or tied up with another opponent already. Machida is going through the toughest time of his career currently, going only 1-3 in his last 4, but all of his losses were to top 5 opponents and some of the greatest LHWs of all time.
It will be interesting to see how Machida performs after such a long layoff. He is also getting older, turning 34 this past may. Is Machida past his prime or has he just made a some mistakes in his last few fights that cost him? We shall see. I personally think he is still one of the best LHWs in the division and he tends to be a nightmare match up for wrestlers and brawlers.

Just let me know what you think, feel free to do your own breakdown as well. I'm going to do Shogun vs Vera sometime in the next few days as well.

Machida was on top of the food chain until he was KOed by Shogun, in his first loss ever, 2 years ago. Machida is probably past prime but should still be able to dominate Bader. Bader doesn´t have the reflexes and timing to handle Lyotos rhytm and I predict a TKO win for Lyoto.

I agree Johan. I still think Machida can beat Jones as well and thought he was winning the first fight until he got elbowed. Against Jones he just has to make sure it stays on the feet and maybe even throw in some trip takedowns as well to mix it up on Jones and keep him guessing. He also needs to keep his rear hand up when punching.
