12 nice fights...first event ...

Big news for the MMA world. Flawless Fighting Championship has issued a statement that they are now partnered with WVR/Sengoku Global. The new Chicago-based promotion will function as a feeder league for Sengoku, supplying international talent to the Japanese organization. FFC has three events slated already, and in fact the third one is called "Road to Sengoku". This is exciting news in the quest to unify the MMA world.

Both male and female talent will be featured in the joint venture. The first event for FFC will be tonight (8/4) and will include such names as Will Dicke, Chase Beebe, Shamar Bailey, Egidijus Valavicius and Miodrag Petkovic. Future events could air on HDNet/AXS which was the original US media affiliate of Sengoku. 2012 has certainly been a year of surprises and they just keep on coming.

Big news! Not a bad first event.

Personally I don't like the idea of the feeder league using a cage if the new Sengoku Global will still use a ring. Probably a budget thing.

AudaxPowder....yeah i got your point....about the cage, but if they are going to promote events in the states you know that some comissions dont allow the ring...i enjoy the ring more...

but if the matchmaking is going to be great as the old sengoku and you have a partner that in their first show is putting a nice event im all for it...

i really hope this works

ZuffaKiller.....the third event of flawless is set to be in osaka japan...it says that the sengoku global events in the usa will be in a cage....common people sengoku was gone, nobody thought it was going to come back, now is a ray of light that we can see sengoku again, and we are complaining about the the ring or cage??? how about no sengoku mma or yes we can see sengoku again???

i enjoy mma better in a ring but there is no company in the states that uses a ring....and worst there is not a big company of mma in japan and now we can have one...

Sounds like great news and I´m sure Sengoku will use a ring in Asia, otherwise it´s not Sengoku.

I don't care about flawless doing a show in japan Sengoku should at least be doing some shows in Japan and Sengoku is known for being in a ring not a cage. that fact that it's going to be in a cage and not do shows in japan(where it originated from) makes it lest appealing to me. It's like ufc moving to another country permantly and not using it's trademark octagon and using a large mat.

Sengoku had a pretty bad ass belt:

Hopefully we see it again!

Flawless FC is probably going to be one of the ways they figure out who competes in the tournaments (I'm hoping they have tourneys!) for the actual Sengoku labeled shows.

Anyways cage/ring, Japan/USA, all details like MR.WILLIE said. I'm just appreciative that there's a start and funds towards more potentially awesome MMA action. cheers

http://www.mmarecap.com/results/flawless-fc-1-recap-and-results/

Flawless Fighting Championship put on their first show on Saturday, August 4th at the UIC Forum in Chicago, Illinois. The night of action featured two amateur bouts and six professional fights. Read on for the full recap and results.

The night’s main event featured Egidijus Valaicius and Eric Hammerich. Hammerich came out swinging and it looked like Valaicius was knocked down but could have possibly slipped. Either way, Hammerich followed him down and started to work punches from within Valaicius’s guard. Hammerich got sloppy for a second, and Valaicius attacked his arm. Hammerich nearly got out of the submission, but then Valaicius rolled the opposite direction and forced Hammerich to tap.

In what was one of the best fights ever Adam Ward took on Oliver Petrovski. At the start Petrovski complained of an eye poke, but the ref didn’t see it and Ward followed up with punches. Petrovski recovered and started to land punches of his own. For the remainder of the round and all through out round two, both fighters landed elbows, knees and punches and both bloodied the other up. In the third round Ward turned up the heat, only to get caught by a punch of Petrovski. Ward looked to be in trouble, but then he turned the tides landing an massive elbow. Petrovski started to bleed profusely and Ward didn’t relent. Another big shot by Ward and Petrovski backed off and waved the fight off.

Controversy erupted at the end of Maurice Greene and Ed Carpenter. The fight was a hard fought three-round fight. The first round Carpenter took Greene down right away and landed punches to the head and body of Greene. The second round was close as Greene was landing his punches while standing, but Carpenter was able to get the fight to the ground. Unlike the first, he wasn’t able to keep it there and once standing again, Greene again found his range. The third round was almost all Greene as he defended the takedowns from Carpenter and kept the fight standing. Even when Carpenter did score a takedown near the end of the round, Greene landed punches and elbows from the bottom, while Carpenter did little. The scorecards were originally read for Greene, and then after he was interviewed, Carpenter was brought in and announced the winner via split decision. Later in the night it was revealed that Greene did in fact win the fight.

Ryan Dickson took on Jason Graves in a welterweight fight. Graves went for a leg kick and Dickson caught it. Dickson tripped Graves and followed him to the ground. Graves tried to keep Dickson in half guard, but Dickson was able to press his knee down and got the mount. Once there, he landed a couple of punches before Graves gave up his back. Dickson was able to get his arm under the chin of Graves and secured a fight ending rear naked choke.

Kicking off the night of professional fights was an exciting fifteen minute battle between Lisa McCallam and Maria Messer. McCallam started off with an overhand right, and Messer countered with a straight punch. McCallam didn’t let up with her attacks and started to piece together combos including jab kick hook that found their mark. When the two fighters were close, Messer tried to land short punches and uppercuts and connect more than once. But McCallam’s overhand right found their mark time and time again through out the fight and the judges saw and heard that. In the end, McCallam won all three judges.

David Gallegos and Matt Wilcox finished off the amateur fights. The two were happy trading punches and kicks at the start until Wilcox found his range and pushed forward with the strikes. After landing multiple punches, the two clinched against the cage and Wilcox took the fight to the ground. For most the rest of the round Wilcox was on top, trying to pass Gallegos’s guard. Gallegos threatened with an armbar, but Wilcox escaped. The end of the round saw the two fighters standing, clinching and throwing knees at each other, but was in favor of Wilcox. Round two the two traded strikes again before Wilcox shot for a takedown. This time Gallegos was ready and countered it perfectly, landing on top. Gallegos passed to side control then grabbed a guillotine choke. It was tight, but he Wilcox fought out of the submission and time ran out before Gallegos could secure the victory. The third round again started with the two throwing punches and kicks, but Gallegos was the one to shoot for the takedown first. Wilcox defended and landed some punches and tried to secure a D’rce choke. It wasn’t there, and the two stood. Gallegos again took the fight to the ground, but Wilcox escaped from under and was able to take his back. Wilcox transition to an armbar from Gallegos’s back as time expired. In the end the judges were unanimous in their decision awarding the fight to Wilcox.

Kenny Jordan took on Andrew Bowers in the first of two amateur fights. Jordan was quick to take Bowers down and landed in side control. He passed to mount and Bowers gave up his back to avoid damage. Jordan threw punch after punch, then Bowers tried to escape. The two stood up briefly, but again it was taken down and Jordan got Bowers’s back. A few punchers were thrown, then he locked in the fight ending rear naked choke.
