William Bush and Noel Ligon to compete for vacant Legacy FC middleweight title
Mon Sep 03, 2012 4:28 pm
Four-time Legacy Fighting Championship veteran William "Bubba" Bush (4-2) and undefeated Texan Noel Ligon (5-0) will battle for Legacy Fighting Championship's vacant middleweight title.
Legacy FC officials recently announced Bush and Ligon will meet at November's Legacy Fighting Championship 15 event, which takes place Nov. 16 at Houston's Arena Theater.
The matchup takes place on the evening's AXS TV-broadcast main card.
Legacy FC's middleweight title was vacated earlier this year by previous champion Andrew Craig, who has since notched UFC wins over Rafael Natal and Kyle Noke.
Bush actually looks to rebound from a disqualification loss to Artenas Young at May's Legacy Fighting Championship 11 event. Bush looked well on his way to victory in the fight after working to his opponent's back and unleashing a barrage of ground-and-pound blows. However, the shots were deemed illegal, and with Young unable to continue, Bush was handed the unfortunate result.
His other career loss was in an April 2011 bout with Craig. With the title also on the line in that fight, Bush was beaten via controversial fifth-round TKO in a contest he was leading on the scorecards.
Meanwhile, Ligon brings an unblemished mark to the cage. The 31-year-old Houston resident debuted in November 2010 and has since rattled off five consecutive wins. Two of those results came under the Legacy FC banner – a December 2011 submission win over Patrick Hutton and, most recently, a unanimous-decision win over Young at July's Legacy Fighting Championship 12 event.
