Why Bibiano Fernandes did not get the OneFC title fight we expected him to get

When OneFC announced the title match between Soo Chul Kim and Leandro Issa, yesterday, many began scratching their head and asking the question, “Why is Bibiano Fernandes not fighting?”

OneFC president Victor Cui gave us a reason that we can’t argue with – Bibi is having a baby. His main focus for the coming months, possibly up to six months, according to other sources, will be that of his family and his new child.

Fernandes has dominated in both the featherweight and bantamweight ranks throughout his career. Winning DREAM’s featherweight and bantamweight grand prix’s, Fernandes has established himself as one of the pound for pound toughest fighters in MMA. At age 32, however, Fernandes mustn’t take too much time off, something the fighter certainly recognizes.

It is unclear if Fernandes will receive a title shot upon his return. Asia is very deep with bantamweight fighters. Rest assured, the dominant Brazilian will likely get his shot at gold someday, and when he does, expect a showing.
