No Holds Barred: Arnaud "The Game" Lepont Empty No Holds Barred: Arnaud "The Game" Lepont

Sun Sep 23, 2012 9:01 am
On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman speaks with ONE FC fighter Arnaud "The Game" Lepont (https://www.facebook.com/thegamelepont).

Originally from France but now living in Malaysia and a member of the Muayfit fight team, "The Game" has been training for his next fight at Tiger Muay Thai in Thailand.

That fight will be a lightweight super fight on the ONE FC: Rise of Kings card on Saturday, October 6, in Singapore, against the Japanese MMA and grappling star Shinya "Tobikan Judan" Aoki. This card can be seen live on a webcast pay-per-view and on TV in the U.S. on same-day, tape-delay on pay-per-view.

We spoke with Arnaud "The Game" Lepont Saturday by Skype.

In this interview he stated that he had asked ONE FC CEO Victor Cui for a fight with Shinya Aoki.

"Shinya Aoki, for me at 155 pounds, is definitely the best Asian current fighter at this weight," he explained in this interview. "You cannot aim at belts or stuff like that. You have to live your dream, and my dream is fighting the best fighter in Asia right now, and at 155 pounds there is no doubt that the best fighter in Asia is Shinya Aoki."

We discussed what mix of grappling and striking there may be in this fight since both fighters have won the bulk of their bouts by submission; what he sees as Aoki's biggest weakness; why he moved from France to Asia; his experiences fighting for the Dare Championship based in Thailand; the banning of MMA in France, New York, and Thailand; how he feels respected as a fighter in ONE FC and in Asia; why he supports the recent change to ONE FC's rules that now allow soccer kicks to the head at any time; and much more.
