ROAD FC SIGNS JEFF “THE SNOWMAN” MONSON Empty ROAD FC SIGNS JEFF “THE SNOWMAN” MONSON

Mon Oct 15, 2012 6:27 pm
ROAD FC has signed world-class grappler and international MMA veteran Jeff “The Snowman” Monson to compete in ROAD FC 10 on November 24 in Busan, South Korea.

Jeff “The Snowman” Monson is the latest international signing to the aggressive South Korean MMA promotion ROAD FC. After announcing the signings of Nova Uniao product Luis “Beicao” Ramos to the welterweight division, and submission specialist Diego “The Octopus” Saraiva to the featherweight division, the promotion upped its ante when it dipped into the deep international pool of heavyweights. Monson is coming off a win against Dennis Tompkin at M-1 Global by a North-South submission and a decision over Jim York in CFC Australia. Those are only two out of four fights he’s already fought in 2012 alone, and even at 41 years of age, he shows no signs of slowing down – attested by 6 fights in 2011 and a whopping 9 in 2010.

Jeff Monson spent his university years as a Division 1 wrestler in the US. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt also has a decade’s worth of outstanding grappling accolades that include gold medals in every major organization: NAGA, IBJJF, FILA, and ADCC. Monson’s career in MMA has been no less astounding with a record of 46-13-1, with a whopping 28 submissions to his credit. He has only been finished in the ring 4 times, making him one of the most indomitable fighters alive.

ROAD FC CEO Mr Jung said in a recent article by MFight that he’d been eager to have Monson sign with his promotion for quite some time, and was extremely pleased when he was able to make it happen. While Mr Jung stated they are looking internationally for a compatible match, there still could be a domestic player waiting in the wings for this one – more likely so if The Snowman could reach back down to 205. After seeing dark horse domestic product Kim JaeYoung absorb all of Melvin Manhoef‘s punches through an entire three-round war while continuously rebounding and countering, and the fact that two Koreans (Kang KyungHo and Lim HyunGyu) were recently snapped up by the UFC, plus Kim SooChul upsetting the favorite Leandro Issa for the inaugural bantamweight belt at ONE FC, the talent level in South Korea is obviously top notch.
