Strikeforce's Jordan Mein meets Forrest Petz in Score Fighting Series 7 main event
Thu Oct 18, 2012 6:16 pm
Rising welterweight contender Jordan Mein (25-8) is on loan from Strikeforce and will meet UFC veteran Forrest Petz (25-9) in the headliner of November's Score Fighting Series event.
Score Fighting Series 7 takes place at Hamilton Place Theatre in Ontario, Canada.
The main card, including the Mein vs. Petz headliner, airs on AXS TV.
"Jordan Mein is part of the next generation fighters we're looking to showcase," SFS promoter Brendan Fyfe stated. “He is entertaining, well-rounded and always looks for the toughest opponents. He will definitely have that in Forrest Petz, who loves to engage and is tougher than a coffin nail."
Mein is 7-1 in his past eight fights, and the 23-year-old Canadian's lone loss in that span came via split decision to Tyron Woodley in January. One of the wins came over DREAM champion Marius Zaromskis at a January 2011 Score Fighting Series event. The Canadian fighter, who took his first amateur bout when he was just 14, looks to add Petz to a list of defeated foes that includes Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos, Josh Burkman, Joe Riggs and Tyler Stinson.
Petz, meanwhile, is on a 4-0 run since his most recent UFC stint. The streak has includes three consecutive knockout wins over notables such as John Kolosci, Rudy Bears and Sergej Juskevic. The 37-year-old Ohio native's latest victory came in his Score Fighting Series debut.
Officials also announced other likely participants for the card: bantamweight Josh Hill (9-0), lightweight Jesse Ronson (11-2), featherweight Will Romero (9-3), lightweight Alex Ricci (5-1) and welterweight Ryan Dickson (4-0).
