It's crazy how big Hong Man Choi is. Fedor never gets much respect for that fight but considering what Choi had done in K-1 at the time, how big he is and his wrestling background, he is an impressive win.

A fighter who fights giants and never back down is the P4P king and GOAT.

It's not the best way to go but some guys just do it anyway. Back then it was him and Igor (the most extreme case at HW i think), now we have guys like Cormier at the same weight class.
At the UFC's start we had Royce doing it too, and others of course. Then in Pride guys like Sakuraba, Wand Silva and Dan Henderson fought HWs too. Frankie Edgar always seemed undersized and was very succesful, but it counted against him last fight. BJ Penn once fought Lyoto Machida too.... some guys just want to fight.

IMO - It's simply BALLS! Big huge GARGANTUAN balls and the confidence in their skills and abilities which leads them to fear no man.
Igor, Fedor, Sakurab... all thought they could beat anybody no matter what size they were or how impressive their combat sport credentials. Prime-Saku & Prime Igor would have no problem whatsoever fighting Jon Jones or Anderson. Prime-Igor for sure would fight JDS and I don't think Saku would turn a JDS fight down if he was called out.
Now Fedor... Fedor would not back down from any human being. Even if it was just for a zero-pay sport match or in the street. Which of today's fighters would do that???
All 3 of these MMA gods had the unwavering drive to challenge themselves by fighting the biggest and the best and beating them 'at their best'. This is true honor and valour.

Fedor should've played the role of the guy from Clash Of The Titans cuz that's exactly what he was doing in his PRIME. Slaying giants and titans
