One FC holds its seventh show same day as UFC 156 in February

February 2, 2013 day promises to be special for fans of MMA. That's because, at the time, UFC and One FC perform their shows and promise to give the sport lovers with big fights.

The Asian event holds its seventh edition in February. The information was confirmed by Victor Cui, President of the event, the site gringo MMA Fighting late on Wednesday (28). The new show will be held in Malaysia in an arena with a capacity for 15 thousand people.

Still no confirmed names for One CF 7, but Cui revealed that the show will host a GP with eight fighters between the flies. The winner of the tournament will be crowned as champion of One FC in the category.

Hmm, either it's Featherweight or Flyweight. It'd be nice to see a Heavyweight GP again though.

ONE FC 7 to host featherweight title bout, four-man flyweight tourney on Feb. 2

ONE Fighting Championships has scheduled its next event for Feb. 2 at Putra Indoor Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

ONE FC CEO Victor Cui told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the show features a first-ever featherweight-title bout and the first leg of a four-man flyweight grand prix. The fighters haven't been announced.

The event, which takes place the same day as UFC 156, streams live in the U.S. on the promotion's website, onefc.com, and internationally on ESPN Star Sports, which is available to 500 million people in 28 countries.

Putra Indoor Arena will be configured to hold 15,000 fans, Cui said. A press conference is planned for next month to announce the event as well as a partnership with a major sponsor, which he declined to name.

Preliminary-card bouts stream for free on the promotion's website while main-card bouts are available for $9.99.

Matchups for the card are nearly set, Cui said, but have not been made official.

Cui, who is in the Philippines working on ONE FC's 2014 schedule, said the promotion is on the cusp of an aggressive schedule expansion. Next year, 12-14 events are planned while 2014 will see 18-24 events.

ONE FC recently partnered with kickboxing purveyors Glory Sports International, which bolsters the promotion's talent pool in time for the ramp-up.

With its September 2011 debut, ONE FC has held five events this year and announced a talent exchange with Japanese promotion DREAM. The promotion crowned a lightweight champ, Kotesu Boku, and a bantamweight titleholder, Soo Chul Kim, at his most recent event, "Rise of Kings."

It's cool that Kim will already be defending his title. I wonder which GLORY fighters they will pull in for this event to fight MMA.

Kim/Bibi is a must, as is Aoki as Boku's first title defense in ONE.

Depret has a big recent win over DEEP champ Shirai. I saw one GLORY Siyar fight on AXS and I think it was against Depret. That is all I would have saw of him.

This is a solid pickup for ONE FC with his recent win over Shirai.
