Didn't know Yamauchi made the transition to MMA. Tough dude. He'll be fun to watch.

Deep - Haleo Impact Discussion Empty Farewell Kazuo Misaki! Fighters (And Misaki) Weigh-In

Fri Dec 21, 2012 3:57 pm
All fighters weighed-in today for the “DEEP HALEO IMPACT ~Kazuo Misaki Retirement Ceremony~” event which takes place on the 22nd at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

DREAM and HERO’S veteran Kazuyuki Miyata will take on Korean Jae Eun Kim in the main event. He said that because he is the last performer of the day for Misaki’s farewell he will fight a fight to not be ashamed about. He doesn’t have any information at all on his Korean opponent but will fight his own fight. He also said that he wants to show the German Suplex.

Former Sengoku Featherweight champion Masanori Kanehara, who has won his last 3, will take on Tom McKenna at Bantamweight in the semi main event. The fight will have special rules (for DEEP) with elbows allowed.

Kazuo Misaki himself also weighed-in at Welterweight (76.1 kg) even though he doesn’t have a fight scheduled. Apparently he wanted to display his maximum shape (which he wasn’t able to in his last fight at Welterweight in America).

Yep, it seems that way. I remember a few years ago Tracker would have them up a bit quicker. There was a hell of a long wait for like DEEP 47 I remember but nowadays it seems longer even though all the numbered events pretty much come out. If it's not a numbered event you never really know when someone might rip it and upload it. Though, I havent seen the last event DEEP 60 anywhere in full.

No big surprises, although one could see Sakuragi beating Takase. No big upset either way.

Miyata stuck to his word and used his patented german suplex and put on a great show for Misaki.

Kanehara won with ease, as expected. Would've been a MUCH better fight and maybe even a test with his original opponent. Hopefully they still schedule that fight next year, unless UFC snatches him up for the next Japan card. I've also heard rumors how he might be paired up with Imanari on NYE as a last minute bout with the surprising exclusion of Imanari in the last BWGP bout at the next ONE card. Fingers are crossed.

Glad to see Ryuta win. Hopefully he'll work his way back to one last shot at the DEEP title next year. One can hope for a storybook ending.

What I really found interesting was the retirement exhibition Misaki had with Gono. Although an exhibition, from all accounts, it was both incredible and beautiful. Really hope the ceremony surfaces eventually.

LONG LIVE DEEP.

DEEP HALEO IMPACT: POST FIGHT INTERVIEWS

Hiromitsu Kanehara

How was your fight today?

My body couldn’t move much.

But your last fight was good.

Yes, my last fight was good, but this time, I should have started earlier. I had a slow start.

Your second round you almost had an armbar.

Yes, almost.

Do you have another match set?

Yes, on March 9th.

Can you see out of that eye?

Yes, I can see.

Please come visit me at Golds Gym again soon

I will.

Takafumi Otsuka

When is your next fight?

I don’t know right now.

Where have you been training?

I’m training at my gym AACC, at Gold’s Gym. And I’m training at Mach Dojo.

How is your weight?

I am big now!

Are you training any differently these days?

Well I don’t have many fights, but I still do lots of training.

Thank you.

Masanori Kanehara

How was your fight tonight?

One week ago they changed my opponent, but he was the same kind of guy – tall and a grappler – so I didn’t change my plan much.

When is your next fight?

I don’t have one yet. But I’m not injured so I’ll keep training hard and be ready for the next one.

Daijyu Takase

How was your fight? Was your opponent strong?

His striking was very strong. I just tried not to get hit by him.

You beat him by guillotine, was that what you were training for?

Yes, because this is Kazuo Misaki’s favorite technique.

Do you train for the next fight now?

Yes, I will train with Korean and Thailand champions because I will go fight there. Maybe in DARE.

Good luck.

Thank you.

Kazuo Misaki

How did you feel when you were listening Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi sing?

I was listening from my heart. I was listening to every beat and I felt that I can’t go back anymore.

I understand. You trained with Nagabuchi in the past; did it help you?

Of course, yes. Our hearts are together. The strength of our hearts can’t compare with anything. That training worked so well for me.

Thank you, Misaki Kazuo.
