With Bellator tourney nixed, Paul Daley wants Marcus Davis at Cage Contender XVI Empty With Bellator tourney nixed, Paul Daley wants Marcus Davis at Cage Contender XVI

No longer part of Bellator MMA's upcoming Season 8 welterweight tournament, Paul Daley has apparently moved on to another challenge.

Daley (30-12-1 MMA, 1-0 BFC) today revealed he's slated to fight Feb. 23 at Cage Contender XVI in Dublin.

Although an opponent hasn't been determined, Daley wrote via Facebook that he'd like to face fellow UFC vet Marcus Davis (21-9).

As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) recently reported, Bellator officials confirmed visa issues will keep the British-born Daley out of its eight-man tournament. However, Daley denied reports the issues are related to a "bar brawl."

Daley, who's also competed for organizations such as Strikeforce and MFC, has won three of his past four fights, and the lone defeat came via split decision to Kazuo Misaki. Most recently, he made his Bellator debut and scored a TKO victory over big-show vet Rudy Bears at Bellator 72.

Davis, meanwhile, recently returned from a one-year layoff and defeated former UFC fighter David Bielkheden at an October event in Sweden. The former boxer won four of his past five fights, all via decision.

Neither Daley nof Bellator MMA has ruled out the possibility of the fighter returning to the organization later this year. Daley hopes to have his visa issues resolved by April.
