Shinya Aoki Flies In To Evolve MMA Next Week To Start Training for ONE FC: ‘Kings and Champions’
Wed Jan 30, 2013 3:58 am
Asia’s best pound for pound fighter is heading to Asia’s number one MMA academy to begin a fight camp which will culminate in a shot at the most prestigious belt in all of Asia.
Former DREAM and Shooto champion Shinya Aoki will face Kotetsu Boku for the ONE FC World Lightweight Title at Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 5th and is set start training at Evolve MMA next week.
ONE FC: ‘Kings and Champions’ is going to be broadcast live by Star Sports and Aoki will be looking to continue his decade long dominance of Asian MMA by adding a ONE FC belt to his collection.
Boku won the title with a surprise third round TKO win over Aoki’s Evolve MMA team mate Zorobabel Moreira last October and the Japanese submission specialist, who sent Arnaud Lepont to sleep in the main event that night, has made no secret of his desire to get revenge.
Aoki will be training under Heath Sims and Chatri Sityodtong with the help of the team of world champion trainers in Singapore. His friend and team mate Eddie Ng is also set to return after almost a year out with injury and the two will be sparring and training together extensively in preparation for ONE FC: ‘Kings and Champions’.

Shinya Aoki to Challenge Kotetsu Boku for Title at One FC 8
One FC finally gets to make the lightweight match-up that it has been targeting since signing Dream lightweight champion Shinya Aoki to be a centerpiece for the promotion.
Aoki will step back in the cage for One FC to square off with the promotion’s lightweight champion, Kotetsu Boku, on April 5 when they return to Singapore Indoor Stadium for One FC 8. One FC officials confirmed the bout on Wednesday.
Aoki (31-6) a longtime staple of the Asian mixed martial arts scene, made his One FC debut last October with a quick submission victory over Arnaud Lepont. It has been no secret that he was on the short track to a title shot, considering his massive resume in Japan and name value in the Asian market.
Boku (20-7-2) won his belt by defeating Zorobabel Moreira at the same One FC 6 event where Aoki defeated Lepont.
Boku made his name in Japan with a lengthy tenure fighting for the venerable Shooto organization.

Yes, it's official. Glad they are making this fight. Makes total sense. Bibi/Kim has to be next as well I hope. Kawajiri vs. Kelly fight winner as well.

Once the flyweight tournament has finished, they'll focus on other weights. Hence why they've scheduled so many shows for this year.
