All around the world, people are outraged about this.
I am continuously at the point to where I cannot even form a coherent response, and the most I can do is provide profanity, or repeat the information as it has been laid out, especially by Eddie Goldman, former Olympic wrestlers (like Cormier, Rulon Gardner, John Smith, Jordan Burroughs), etc.
I was at a party last night, which mostly involved some older gentleman and ladies (I was the only non-Japanese there, just to note), and the topic of the removal of Olympic wrestling inevitably came up. Everyone was in agreement, that it is egregious to remove wrestling. Of course, Japan is a very strong wrestling country, among other strong wrestling countries. This is especially so for women's wrestling (which Japan dominates), but they are very strong in the men's categories, as well.
There was one gentleman with good knowledge of wrestling, and judo, and combat sports, and I talked to him quite a bit. We also talked about the rules of wrestling, and judo, and I expressed my displeasure with the new judo rules, based on my watching the Paris Grand Slam, which concluded 5 or so days ago (it's available on youtube, in its entirety. I didn't sleep the last 2 nights, because I was watching all of it.) He was aware of the meeting in Phuket. But, he didn't know the result, with respect to the resignation of the FILA head.
I really hope this is a step in the right direction.
Wrestling must be included in 2020.
