Hiroyuki Takaya to compete in Shootboxing match

Within the past week, Japanese MMA star Hiroyuki Takaya had stated that he had a fight in the coming months and was preparing as much. Today that fight was announced.

Hiroyuki Takaya, a former DREAM featherweight champion, will compete in Shootboxing’s next event on April 20th. at the event’s “act.2″ event. No word has been floated as to his opponent.

The card features one of the best the promotion has put together. Hiroaki Suzuki, Hiroki Shishido, RENA, and now Takaya are all competing on the card.

Takaya’s MMA pedigree will likely translate well for Shootboxing. No word as to whether this is a career move, but this is likely something to keep him warm while the MMA community decides what they are going to do in the future, in Japan.

Takaya and Shishido to meet at Shootboxing Act.2

Hiroki Shishido will be Hiroyuki Takaya’s opponent at Shootboxing Act.2 the promotion announced today.

Shishido, a 50-18 kickboxer is a legendary figure in Japan. Shishido defeated Satoru Suzuki with a beautiful spinning backfist to qualify for last years S-Cup. Shishido went on to defeat JZ Cavalcante but ultimately lost to Andy Souwer, with the Dutchman knocking him out in the first round.

Shishido has a full experience edge on Takaya, but don’t count the Streetfight Bancho out of this one. His peculiar striking could lead him places in the fight.

Takaya can be a bit chinny but packs a hell of a punch. Shishido should win but it'll be awfully close.
