This is only one month after Overeems fight against Gluhov. These guys are staying busy.

Glad to see Vila isn't done after his loss to Sampo. Sklavos is a solid flyweight himself but Vila, even with how old he is, is still far superior mixed martial artist with his devastating knockout power and world class wrestling.

I still think it´s wrong that Fallon Fox is fighting women. What do you guys think?

A rib injury has knocked Valentijn Overeem (30-28) from a main event heavyweight fight later this month against Mike Kyle (19-9), and Travis Wiuff (68-17) will step up in his place.

Overeem, brother of UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem, was scheduled to meet Kyle at Championship Fighting Alliance 11. AXS TV's "Inside MMA" on Friday reported the switch, and Overeem's management team confirmed the news.

CFA 11 takes place May 24 at BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla. The main card airs live on AXS TV. The new main event between Kyle and Wiuff will be a rematch from a 2010 no contest under the King of the Cage banner.

"Everyone at CFA wishes Valentijn Overeem a fast recovery from the rib injury he incurred this week," stated Jorge de la Noval, CFA's founder and CEO. "... The main event of CFA 11 is a now a rematch that both of these fighters have wanted for years. Their first fight in 2010 was ruled a no-contest and now, three years later, they finally have a chance to settle the score."

Wiuff, a UFC and Bellator veteran, comes into the short-notice bout on a three-fight skid. A split-decision loss in Abu Dhabi was sandwiched in between quick first-round knockout losses for Bellator to Attila Vegh (25 seconds) this past August and Ryan Martinez in March (18 seconds). Prior to that, the veteran had a six-fight win streak that included a 4-0 run in Bellator.

Kyle, a UFC, Strikeforce and WEC vet, will fight for the first time since a first-round loss to Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce's finale in January. With two losses in four Strikeforce bouts and a third overturned to a no contest when Rafael Cavalcanted tested positive for a banned substance, Kyle wasn't part of the Strikeforce transition to the UFC. He reportedly contemplated retirement, but then signed to fight Overeem.

Kyle and Wiuff met in February 2010. After a back-and-forth first two rounds, Kyle landed a punch after the bell. With Wiuff on the canvas, referee Herb Dean stopped the fight and it was ruled a no contest. Now, more than three years later, the two will get the rematch they've been seeking.

Overeem was looking to snap a two-fight skid, but will have to put that on hold with the injury. His most recent win came in February 2012, a first-round submission victory at KSW 18 in Poland. Of Overeem's 30 career wins, 29 have come by stoppage.

CFA 11 has received considerable attention beyond the main event. Transgender fighter Fallon Fox is scheduled to meet Allana Jones in the co-main event in a women's featherweight tournament semifinal fight.

With the main event change, the televised main card for CFA 11 now includes:

Wiuff has no chin. None. His head is made out of paper mache at this point.

At 35 Years of Age, Travis Wiuff Taking Meaningful Fights and Seeing Where It Leads



Having suffered three straight losses for the first time in his career since 2006, former UFC and Bellator fighter Travis “Diesel” Wiuff finds himself at a bit of a crossroads.

According to Wiuff, his recent losing streak isn’t something to be too concerned about and is something he can rebound off of.

“Two of the last three opponents have been southpaws, and throughout my whole career I’ve never done well against southpaws,” he said. “It’s just a mental thing where I don’t fight well against them. The one in between them was the one in Abu Dhabi and I got screwed on that one – I clearly dominated and won the fight – but the judges for some reason saw it another way.

“I’ll keep plugging away. I know what I need to do to be successful. I need to just get back to moving forward and creating pressure. I know if I can fight like that, I can be successful still.”

Wiuff will get a chance to get back on the winning track this Friday when he takes on Mike Kyle in a rematch of their 2010 KOTC fight. This time, the two square off at CFA 11 in Coral Gables, Fla., and live on AXS TV.

In their first bout, Wiuff was knocked out following a punch that landed thrown by Kyle after the bell to end round two. According to Wiuff, he feels it was accidental and there’s no hard feelings going into this rematch.

“It wasn’t intentional,” said Wiuff. “The uppercut landed and knocked me out and the ref stopped the fight. Later on it was ruled a no contest because it landed after the bell, but it wasn’t done intentionally.

“I spoke to him before the fight and after the fight, and there’s definitely no bad blood. He invited me to come train with him out at AKA in California. I think Mike gets a bad rap because of what happened in the past, but there’s definitely no bad blood (between us).”

As for the rematch, Wiuff told MMAWeekly.com that the strategy both he and Kyle will bring to the bout will be nothing new or surprising to anyone who has seen either of them fight before.

“There’s no secret,” said Wiuff. “I’ve got to move forward, create pressure and not get hit. Obviously Mike is going to try keep it standing and knock me out. I don’t think there’s a secret to either one of our games. It’s down to who can accomplish that in 15 minutes.”

At this stage in his career, Wiuff knows that he might not be headed back to the bigger stages of MMA, but that won’t deter him from continuing to fight.

“I have no grand illusions,” he said. “I’m a very self-aware and am honest with myself. The UFC doesn’t want guy who is 35 years old, has had 90 fights and is coming off a three-fight losing streak. Getting back to the UFC is probably not going to happen. They’re looking for guys who are 8-0 with six knockouts, two submissions, and is 24 years old.

“I’ve had a decent run. I’ve been successful. I’ve had runs in the UFC and Bellator and that’s been the highlight of my career. Right now I’m taking fights that are meaningful to me and I’m not really looking any further than that.”

the winner here could be getting a call from wsof, so its an important fight for both guys...

wiuff shouldnt be a problem for mac he can sub him from bottom if need be but more likely a ko.wiuff needs to setup his takedowns instead of running forward lol otherwise hes just a punching bag!
