Chris Weidman on the rise
Sat Jan 28, 2012 9:45 am
Chris Weidman fights tonight on short notice, how do you guys think he'll match up? Should be a good one, Chris says he's ready and I truly think he'll be wearing the belt soon. He's got all the tools...but tonight will be a good test.

I remember on a UFC countdown show a while back Matt Serra was saying this guy was destined for big things.
I've actually got Maia in this one but I would love to be wrong.

Maia is a tough challenge for Chris, but i have a feeling Matt is right and you might just be happy about being wrong...The interview i posted is before his previous first round win against Lawlor who he made look silly. Chris is a very grounded guy but he expects to win every fight he enters, i give Chris the edge in every match he enters....But then again, that's why they fight - anyone could win....

Weidman would beat Anderson. Anderson cannot wrestle.

Definately wouldn't win Fight of the Night EVER....But it was a Unanimous decision...Big win for Chris!!!! I understand why Chris was exhausted he only had 10 days to train and drop weight, but what was up with Maia? Didn't he have 5 months to train for this fight? The third round was in slow motion...lol.

i'll give Weidman some props for now beating two fighters i like (Sakara and Maia). i'll probably finally root for him his next fight as long as he gets a solid camp in so he can be entertaining.

redidesigns will you make any M-1 interviews?
Re: Chris Weidman on the rise

true, he needs that, but then again they all do. A good camp everyone is on top...anyway, Chris was just ranked #4 contender in the 185lbs class so all's good.
As for Johan's question "will we be making any M-1 Interviews?"...we're hoping to. We're in the process of securing an investor for a New MMA TV program that you guys will love. I can't give the details yet but if and when we get the funding we'll be all over the world interviewing alot of the top fighters....so i will def keep you all posted.

Shitty fight, but Weidman at least had an excuse for looking like ass.
He's still the best prospect in the world today

No he's not the best prospect? Or no it wasn't a shitty fight?
Either way I'd have to disagree.

Weidman is a prime example of the zuffa hype machine at work. No, he wasn't/isn't a great prospect and it was an absolutely horrible fight.redidesigns wrote:Dapperdoo wrote:InTheJungle wrote:Shitty fight, but Weidman at least had an excuse for looking like ass.

Maia is weak these days, He tries to stand and strike when his best chance of winning on the ground. He's young very raw in the sport (obv not wrestling) but with coaches (serra: bjj and longo : striking). He can easily make top 5 middleweight one day in the future, its very bright for Mr. Weidman...

Yeah, I was a big fan of Maia when he first entered the UFC and was submitting guys left and right. Since then he is pretty weak. Not even top 10 anymore. It sucks but I still always pull for him.

Exactly. Haven't seen that Maia since that fight. He has been in 7 straight decisions since he won that fight.
