Glory 12 ratings on Spike: Glory 12 draws 476K, up 25% from Spike debut
Tue Nov 26, 2013 8:16 pm
Ratings are in for Glory 12. The company's second show on Spike took place on Saturday, November 23 live from New York City, and was headlined by the Lightweight tournament featuring pound for pound king (well, at the time at least) Giorgio Petrosyan.
Glory 12 drew an average of 476,000 viewers. That's a 25% increase from their Glory 11 debut on Spike in October, which drew 381,000. In the key demographics, Glory saw similar increases, going up 33% in the 18-49 range, and a whopping 55% in the Male 18-49. The show peaked at 665,000. That's actually lower than the peak for Glory 11, but considering that the Glory 11 peak came at the start of the program after a strong lead-in from Cops (Why Cops remains a ratings powerhouse in 2013 is anyone's guess, but it is.), this should not be cause for alarm.
Overall, this is excellent news. From conversations with the team at Spike, it's clear that they see this as a long-range game, one where they are building an audience from zero. For them, the key is growth. It seemed logical that after such a strong debut at Glory 11, that there should be a bump at Glory 12, and that's exactly what happened. Had we not seen any growth, it would have been real cause for concern.
Add in the completely sold out crowd inside The Theatre at Madison Square Garden and another terrific show, and Glory 12 should go down as a slam dunk.
Next up for the company is Glory 13 Tokyo on December 21, which will be broadcast on Spike. Those ratings will be interesting, as it should build on the momentum from these two shows, but will need to contend with holiday plans. Glory has the night to themselves with no UFC and no boxing currently scheduled.
