Jared Rosholt meets newcomer Oleynik at UFC on FOX 10 in Chicago

Just a week after winning his UFC debut, Jared Rosholt has his next assignment.

Rosholt (9-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will meet newly signed Russian Oleksiy Oliynyk (2-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in a heavyweight bout when the UFC returns to Chicago next month for UFC on FOX 10. Promotion officials announced the new fight booking on Saturday.

UFC on FOX 10 takes place Jan. 25 at United Center in Chicago. The main card, including a main-event lightweight contenders bout between former UFC champ Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce titleholder Josh Thomson, will air on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and MMAjunkie.

Rosholt made his promotional debut a week ago at the TUF 18 Finale and took a hard-fought unanimous decision against fellow debutant Walter Harris. (Harris also has been booked for his next fight on UFC on FOX 10.) That ran Rosholt’s winning streak to five following his lone loss at Legacy FC 13. The brother of former UFC fighter Jake Rosholt has an even mix of wins in his career – three knockouts, three submissions and three decisions.

Oliynyk signs with the UFC following a submission victory over former UFC heavyweight and PRIDE legend Mirko Filipovic in November. Oliynyk stopped “Cro Cop” with a first-round neck crank, forcing the Croation to tap.

Great card

From headlining against Cro Cop to the prelims against Jared Rosholt. Wow. But I still see Oleinik subbing Rosholt.

I got Oleynik.

I have not really been impressed with Rosholt. At all.

I like roshalt but yet to show even a glimmer of what he's capable of.

This fight will be a good test for him and his stand-up as I don't see him being eager to grapple the boa constrictor LOL.

Tho I do hope alexey pulls off a standing ezekial choke(my favorite sub)

Yeah oleinik fighting crocop in ufc probly would be a fight for troops or fight night headliner LOL.

Now its pre lims

I think this fight could go either way, honestly. Rosholt's below average submission defense plays a part in this but he's got good enough wrestling to where he could just positionally dominate Oleinik. He's also got the ability to finish with his punches.

It'll be a close, boring fight.
