Vitor Belfort confident he'll be granted TRT exemption, says 'everyone is using during camp'

Former Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) executive director Keith Kizer and current NSAC advising physician Dr. Timothy Trainor both have been public in stating that they doubt Vitor Belfort will receive an exemption for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). Neither man has a vote when the issue goes in front of the commission, but they're basing those statements on their knowledge of the process, which makes it very hard for someone to get a TRT exemption when they have failed tests in the state for anabolic steroid use as is the case with Belfort.

Even knowing this, Belfort is expecting that his request for an exemption will go just fine, as he told Globo. Here are the quotes as translated by Bloody Elbow translator Fernando Arbex:

"For sure I'm confident. It's my treatment. The UFC and the doctors are already working on it to make things right. I don't believe that it is going to be a problem. It's not something from my head, it's a medical issue."

"The big problem are the people who abuse in a general way. They use without the right for it, to cheat. I'm the only guy who is rigorously tested in gaps of 15 days, as Dana White said. When the UFC don't do the test, I do it myself. It's my treatment. The cool thing is to be fine with your conscience, to know that you are playing fair."

Belfort didn't stop there, he is now angry enough that he says he plans to demand more testing for his opponets and also basically claims that everyone in the sport is cycling on and off drugs during camp:

"I'll start asking for one thing the UFC. All those who fight against me are always complaining. But I have one thing to say: why they are not tested during the preparation for the fight? The thing is that many guys use doping during their camps to improve recovery and such. During my camp I'm thoroughly tested. I will now ask for Dana White to test all those guys who fight against me and keep talking. The same way that my blood is tested, must test their blood to see if they are not cheating."

"Many use products that we know, they know that they are mocking and they are talking about me. But in reality, everyone is using during the camp. Get there on time and piss when already out of his body. I do not. I am obliged to draw blood during my camp and after the fight. They do not have to draw blood, it's just pee. Then all the guys who will fight me should do the test with me. Let's see if their hormones are straights or if they are using an illegal substance. We know that there are a lot of cheating out there. They abuse during the camp. I'm a proper man. Let me take the exam. I will be tested , and they will not be tested?"

EDIT- Here's a link from an interview back in 2013 that says he's been on it for 6 years. That would be roughly ~2007.

A lot of fighters I was a fan of over the years have been outed as TRT users and honestly, I can't support that crap. It just doesn't feel right and I will always oppose it, even if you have a medical condition. Don't fight.

It just raises my respect for all time greats like Fedor and Penn who were always very outspoken about PEDs and reached the pinnacle of the sport without them.

Yes and Hendo admitted    we only found out about Hendo last year. Do you have proof that Vitor needs it because of roids? Did his doctors say this? No

TRT is killing the sport of MMA.

RTT is correct.....

Its not just the fact that guys use it and gain advantages in training and recovery but also you got guys who don't even meet the criteria to use trt who are getting exemptions (vitor)

If your testosterone is gone DONT FIGHT

If you were caught doping and claim to need trt just to not fight at a disadvantage DONT FIGHT!
