I love M-1!

M-1 is the new Pride. They had the big screen, walk out ramp, fights in a ring, the screaming Pride lady, Pride refs and fighters who come to fight and not lay in pray. They also aren't a bunch of morons like most ufc guys who think because they got a few tattoos and were on a reality show for bum fighters they are tough.

Their entire approach to MMA is so much better than the ufc's. It's not lame rock music and loud mouth promoters, it's about honor, respect, sportsmanship, all the things MMA should be.

I'm also pretty excited about the team up between Asian MMA promoters and also Bellator (they may be ufc lite but their president isn't such a loud mouth and they have tournaments and offer competition) being on Spike down the road. Things in MMA are looking up I think.

Aesthetics aside they are doing wonderful by implementing PRIDE elements esp rules and scoring. Shimada did a great job reffing last night with good stand ups. Just need to brand their fighters more like Zuffa. Global MMA with co promotion = justbleedguy.gif that's how I feel on the inside.

Even if it isn't quite what Pride used to be YET. M-1 delivers great exciting fights, that's the bottom line. And for that i'm thankful.

M-1 can't quite touch KSW presentation wise quite yet but they did good

M-1 production in Russia is impeccable. Also, Jeremy Horn on the English commentating team was pretty awesome. The commentating was boss.

Agree to this completely. If there's a way to present MMA as a REAL SPORT, this was it.

Pride just had the perfect match of show and sport.

M1 is a great change from the norm though. I also like the fact that their fights are available to MMA fans.

having Jeremy Horn was pretty damn awesome but that other guy was absolutely HORRENDOUS

Thank god they dont, Unified Rules is too biased towards the wrestlers.

In one of the fights the commentators were talking about downward pointing of elbow strikes being illegal in the Unified rules, so what? Its not America and not under unified rules, hence we got a legendary MMA ref. A win on both counts.

So which rules do they use?

M-1 is the next best thing to PRIDE imo. I love DREAM but they tried too hard to emulate PRIDE and never quite captured the epic feel. M-1 is different though, while the last card had an epic feel it was uniquely M-1. The rise of mma in Europe is going to continue and I think we are going to see something really special from M-1 Global in the future.
