Pretty stoked to see Hiromi Amada in the field. He honestly has a pretty good chance at winning this tournament. Masuda could be his toughest test.
Shame they couldn't talk TAIZEN into participating in this. I want to see more pure IGF guys.

You think? Mirko's body is about 5000 years old at this point and Ishii is just really underwhelming to watch. How someone unathletic as him ever won an Olympic Gold Medal in Judo I'll never know.

If Cro Cop wins he will break into the G-MMA rankings for the first time.

I guess in ishi I always look for a little improvement in each putting and tho crocop is ancient he's been focused on his stand-up which will atleast make the fight interesting IMO.

There's always the chance of Cro Cop landing a big shot, but I believe Ishii is athletic enough to avoid it. Ishii should win with a smart striking gameplan and an emphasis on judo.

Ishii should retire if he loses this fight.
CroCop is done as a MMA fighter. He needs to stick to his bread & butter, Kick Boxing.

Yeah, Ishii probably takes this without much a problem. Would be cool to see Cro Cop land that big shot though.

INOKI GENOME FIGHT 2 will take place in Tokyo, Japan on August 23, 2014. Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Ishii will face the legendary Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipović.
Ishii has become the main star for Antonio Inoki’s foray into MMA-based events, but the pro wrestling kingpin still likes the sensationalist approach when booking MMA matches. Cro Cop’s legend status but somewhat less-than-stellar recent performances make this match up just that. Cro Cop has only won once since his fall from grace in a final stint in the UFC, and that was a submission win at the first IGF over former sumo wrestler Shinichi Suzukawa.
Ishii has added many former A-list stars to his growing resume, including Tim Silvia, Pedro Rizzo, and Jeff Monson, all within a one year’s time frame. In fact his winning streak of eight fights in just a year in a half makes him one of the busiest fighters on the market. Ishii will look to add another scalp to his necklace when judoka meets head kick legend in August at the Ryogoku Kokugikan

Nearing 40, “Cro Cop” continues to fight on. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
UFC and Pride Fighting Championships veteran Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will return to Japan in August to take on streaking heavyweight Satoshi Ishii.
The heavyweight matchup is set to headline Inoki Genome Fight 2, the second all-MMA offering from Antonio Inoki’s pro-wrestling promotion, Inoki Genome Federation. The event takes place Aug. 23 at Ryogoku Kokugikan arena in Tokyo’s Sumida ward.
Filipovic, 39, briefly retired from mixed martial arts and returned to kickboxing after a three-fight losing skid led to his exit from the UFC in 2011. The Croatian striker came back to MMA in December 2012 with an armbar win over former sumo Shinichi Suzukawa, but succumbed to a first-round neck crank from recent UFC signee Alexey Oleinik last November.
Ishii, who trains in California at Black House and Reign MMA, has notched seven victories inside the IGF ring in the past 18 months, including decisions over the likes of Pedro Rizzo, Tim Sylvia and, most recently, Philip De Fries. The 27-year-old Olympic judo gold medalist’s current winning streak also includes a majority decision against Jeff Monson in Russia last October.
The undercard of Inoki Genome Fight 2 will feature the opening round of the promotion’s open-weight “Road to Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2014” tournament, with Shuji Morikawa facing Takaaki Oban and Jun Ando taking on Ryo Sakai.

Can't wait for this card! btw I can't seem to find a solid answer to this question but, Does anyone know IGF'S rule set? If I recall correctly stomps are legal and I think soccer kicks are? Are knees to the head of a grounded opponent legal? If so IGF may be my new favorite promotion
